Fire in the hole! Nice short clip here. Amazing work goes into planning bridge demolitions in general but damaged structures like this one are even more challenging! Glad this was shared so we can all see. #construction #deconstruction #demolition
Another great milestone achieved by our amazing team at the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse. Did you know that the historic battleship New Jersey is currently in dry dock for maintenance at the Philadelphia shipyard? This mighty vessel, which once ruled the seas with its sheer power and prowess, is now undergoing some much-needed TLC to ensure it remains a symbol of engineering excellence for generations to come. The USS New Jersey, affectionately known as "Big J," was a force to be reckoned with during its active service days. Commissioned in 1943, this majestic battleship played a crucial role in World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and even the Cold War. With a length of over 887 feet and a displacement of 45,000 tons, the sheer size and firepower of the New Jersey were unmatched. One of the most impressive aspects of the USS New Jersey was its ammunition capacity. This battleship was capable of carrying and launching projectiles that weighed up to 2,700 pounds, delivering devastating blows to enemy targets from miles away. The sheer destructive force of these projectiles was unparalleled, making the USS New Jersey a formidable adversary on the high seas. While most of the sailors who once walked the decks of the USS New Jersey have long since passed, the legacy of this legendary battleship lives on. Its presence in dry dock serves as a reminder of the incredible feats of engineering and military might that were achieved during its operational days. The battleship New Jersey stands as a testament to the power and capabilities of the United States Navy, showcasing the ingenuity and innovation that went into building such a formidable warship. #EngineeringExcellence The USS New Jersey may be getting some maintenance work done, but its legacy will continue to inspire awe and admiration for years to come. ⚓️ #battleship #navalhistory #PhiladelphiaShipyard #ussnewjersey #drydock #maintenance #engineeringpower #navy #americanmilitary #warship #mightyvessel #historyinmotion #veterans #usnavy #pentagon #military https://lnkd.in/esRjPRih

December 7, 1941, is a significant date in history as it marks the attack on Pearl Harbor, a naval base in Hawaii, by the Imperial Japanese Navy. The surprise military strike occurred early on a Sunday morning and had a profound impact on the United States, leading to its entry into World War II. Key Points: Attack on Pearl Harbor: On the morning of December 7, 1941, Japanese aircraft carried out a surprise attack on the U.S. Pacific Fleet anchored at Pearl Harbor. The attack targeted battleships, cruisers, and aircraft, resulting in significant damage and casualties. Casualties and Damages: The attack led to the destruction or severe damage of eight U.S. battleships, multiple cruisers and destroyers, and almost 200 aircraft. The human toll included over 2,400 Americans killed and around 1,200 wounded. Reasons for the Attack: Japan aimed to neutralize the U.S. Pacific Fleet to facilitate its territorial expansion in Southeast Asia and the Pacific. The attack was part of a broader Japanese strategy to secure access to vital resources in the region. Declaration of War: The attack on Pearl Harbor prompted the United States to declare war on Japan the following day, on December 8, 1941. This declaration marked the country's formal entry into World War II. Impact on World War II: The attack on Pearl Harbor shifted public opinion in the United States, galvanizing support for the war effort. It also led to the internment of Japanese Americans, reflecting wartime concerns about national security. Remembering Pearl Harbor: December 7 is observed as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day in the United States. Ceremonies and commemorations are held to honor the lives lost and to reflect on the historical significance of the attack. The attack on Pearl Harbor served as a catalyst for the United States' active involvement in World War II, shaping the course of the conflict and influencing subsequent geopolitical developments. https://lnkd.in/gYxfPYCb
