Spotlight on Sweden 💡 The Southern Sweden Film Commission, a member of CineRegio Green, is one of the advocates for sustainability within the Swedish film and TV industry. Some of the efforts that the commission has contributed this past year are as follows: • Throughout the past year, the Swedish sustainability tool; Hållbar film, has been updating its content and workflow thanks to the support of the Swedish film funds. As the film commissioners have wanted for a long time, they have now also launched a version in English, making it more accessible for coproductions. The tool is created to shift filmmakers’ mindsets around the production process and works especially well for making sustainability plans. The tool consists of 100 organizational, environmental and social sustainability questions. It has been inspired by gamification to enhance user-friendliness, as it takes you through a planning, production and evaluation phase. You can find the tool and request an account here: https://lnkd.in/dr66AzTn • During the Gothenburg Film Festival, two events on sustainability gained extra attention, both supported by the commission. The first was a panel discussion at the Nordic Film Market which showcased case studies of sustainable film productions by Swedish and Danish producers. The other was a study where a regular TV series budget was compared to a more sustainable budget, taking both social and environmental aspects into consideration, which pointed towards savings of up to 1 million SEK through the more sustainable choices. The event was filmed and can be seen here https://lnkd.in/d_RAWDgf

Sunday Musings. Here is a radical idea - take the national Swedish Film production funding and the power out of the so called cultural bottlenecks and put it in Tillvaxtverket and Business Sweden and support the smaller regions throughout Sweden to grow a local screen industry with the infrastructure to support it. This will give jobs, allow a demand for upskilling, allow each region to promote their unique assets, allow private companies to invest in local government film incentives making it competitive for the regions and return investment and growth to regions that have been ignored or considered not significant. How’s that for a thought? Regeringskansliet, Kulturdepartementet Tillvaxtverket Business Sweden Svenskt Näringsliv https://lnkd.in/ddFPYn9P

How to push the impact of your work to another level? Erika and I would like to share five lessons which we learned in our impact tour, that might be useful for what you do. At the bottom, some news about our tour and the 10 film festival selections in September. #1 : Start Early Our film would never ever have been selected to 60 film festivals, 25 countries, Premieres in more than 70 cities, and 20+ high level political venues, if we would not have designed the impact strategy while we were still working on the production of our content. Impact goes in parallel to production! #2: Drop the unnecessary! Dream high, but keep your feet on the ground. Like in a air baloon, we had to take some painful but constructive decisions to drop some weight in order to focus on our main goal priority. #FocusOnTheEssential #3 : Build Partnerships! Nobody does impact on their own. Nobody. So many people on our way helped us turn this impact tour into a reality. This requires to contact people from day one. Many doors were closed. Many. But some key doors did open... #FocusOnThePositiveSigns #4 : Think evolutive! We had a plan. We worked on it and we tried to stay realistic. Yet, as soon as the wind was blowing in the right direction, we took the opportunity. We adapted the plan and we experimented new paths! #WelcomeSurprises #5 : Have a check list! No matter if it's a film, a book, a report, a play, or a speech, producing your content will tend to dominate most of your time schedule. Your impact design might be left aside... In order to avoid this, we kept a TO DO list and a TO CONTACT list. And we worked on it, a bit every day. Of course any impact requires consistency, patience and discipline. Creativity too. But if you work on it, be sure that these five tips will push your impact to another level! Now, what are the latest news about THE ILLUSION OF ABUNDANCE impact tour, with and for environmental defenders? We are just back from Brazil, where we had several screenings in Brasilia, Belo Horizonte, and Rio. We are now preparing the next step and we got some great news to share with you: 1. We are nominated at the Silbersaltz science and media award 2. We won the best feature doc at the Puerto Rico Film Festival 3. We are invited by Ventana Sur to talk about impact 4. ✨ "Seville has a special colour...". And there is no better way to capture it than through film. Sevilla&Me will be one of the commissions coming to the Valladolid Fair to showcase its virtues for audiovisual productions. 🟢 The capital of Seville is one of the most coveted places for filming. Not only because of the history that corners such as the Plaza de España or the Torre del Oro hold, but also because of the city's climate, which is very pleasant throughout most of the year, making it an ideal destination. 📋 In terms of bureaucracy, the Sevilla&Me organisation acts as a one-stop shop to streamline all processes involving municipal services and advice. Find out more about all of Seville's virtues in the following article: https://ow.ly/6MGb50PRRnA #ShootingLocationMarketplace is a project of Feria de Valladolid and the Spain Film Commission #SpainAVSHub #findtheplace

It was a pleasure to attend Film London's #SlateDays 2023s yesterday with Oliver Fegan and to again support this important event through usheru. here are my takeways: 1. The Ritzy rocks! Any concerns over whether moving the event to Brixton as from the West End were quickly put to bed - attendance was up on last year and Ritzy's lovely art deco auditorium and caring staff (so nice to be back) felt an even more natural space for the event. 2. BFI's major new initiative. Eleven FiftyFive's Ian Cartwright and Delphine Lievens introduced the BFI-backed play to bring new audiences to independent cinemas - a new national consumer brand that will offer regular free screenings at venues across the UK. Bold and ambitious, the scheme plans to leverage significant brand support for the films and venues. If anyone can pull this off it's this talented team. 3. This business is all about storytelling. If there's one thing that sitting through a day of trailers and slate presentations hammers home is that story is everything for film - and a great trailer is often the greatest storytelling of all. So many tantalising titles on the horizon too - some of my highlights included POOR SOULS, MAMI WATA, ROBOT DREAMS, CALIGULA THE ULTIMATE CUT, BEYOND UTOPIA and a major Powelll and Pressburger retrospective. 4. Box office is up but concerns remain. Barbenheimer completely turned the 2023 box office around, with the year now tracking comfortably ahead of 2022 and not too far off pre-pandemic levels. But concerns remain about the slate, the strikes as well as a growing gap in the arthouse space between the hits and everything else - or a "winner takes all market" as a leading independent distributor described it to me. In this environment, effective and efficient targeted marketing becomes more important than ever.

'The Making of Pinocchio’ was personal. In its audacity and complexity, "The Making of Pinocchio" blurs the line between the familiar and the taboo, creating a space for contemplation and reflection, and beckoning the audience to a place where honesty, creativity, and self-acceptance converge. 🇮🇳 | VFX Compositing Prod. at DNEG | Filmmaker 🎬 | Creative Fusionist ✨| Highly Passionate about Content & Leadership 🏆
#BARBENHEIMER : Beyond the memes and trends. 🎬✨ 📍Barbenheimer, a trend started by netizens, fueled up by the marketers, on the release of two biggest films of the year on same day, promising almost opposite experiences, came in as a big relief for the strike struck Hollywood by breaking multiple records at box office and collecting more than 500+ million dollars till now. As a result of this many Entertainment sector stocks saw a huge jump, also bringing together the film lovers to theatres in huge numbers 📍 Why should you watch both the films in theatre? 👉🏻 What is actually great is to experience two different worlds altogether by two greatest filmmakers accompanied by the amazing cast and crew. Also, having watched both the films at IMAX , one thing that I can vouch for is the unique experience you get in the theatres for your time and money. 📍What could be the way forward? 👉🏻 Barbenheimer, though propagated as a joke, actually tells us that this is the 'Age of Collaboration' instead of cancelling each other. I think even the production houses and filmmakers are taking note of it globally, as we are just witnessing how the cameos and cinematic universes are becoming more common these days, which is actually giving a great edge to the business of the films. Even from the perspective of exhibitors and distributors, they are looking forward to more simultaneous releases like Barbenheimer which would give a good boost to footfalls. And offcourse as a cinema lover, it's always a treat to have the opportunity to witness simultaneous releases like these. Have you watched these films? Let me know your thoughts on it below 👇 #barbenheimer #oppenheimer #barbie #films #filmindustry #entertainmentindustry #cinema #nolan #gretagerwig

Congratulations to #FilmBayona's 'Society of the snow' and #PabloBerger 's 'Robot Dreams' for their nominations at the #Oscars2024. ⭕ There is no doubt that #Spain has become a hub for national and international productions. 🎦 🔺 Its team of professionals, cutting-edge solutions, diverse locations, and tax incentives draw an increasing number of international productions 🌎 to our country, which along with a large number of domestic productions, are attracting the attention of international platforms 📺 🎬 There has been an increase in both quantity and quality. The industry has managed to adapt to the times and develop new viewing models. Digital platforms are the main drivers of this growth. 📽 Besides, Spain has many shooting locations and Bayona's film is a great example of success. The Andean exteriors were shot in the Valley of Tears in Argentina, at the site of the crash, but the rest of the film was shot at the #SierraNevada ski resort in #Granada, #Spain. 📽 Why invest in #audiovisualindustry in Spain? ▶ Tax incentives. ▶ Infrastructures and services. ▶ Market opportunities ▶ Spain easily covers all phases of production. ▶ There are over 72,000 professionals and 6,700 companies devoted to the audiovisual industry here. ▶ Over 500 international awards demonstrate Spain's know-how in the audiovisual industry over the last decade. ▶ There are 45 film festivals, including San Sebastian (Category A), Seminci, the Malaga Festival, and the Ibero-American Film Festival of Huelva. 👉 And much more: https://lnkd.in/eB-Mb3VX
