Early in my career I was a remote reservation agent for luxury properties across the world that I had never seen. 🌎 I was tasked with selling rooms that often cost thousands of dollars per night. 😅 I was like 20yrs old and thought that La Quinta was fancy. 🏨 😂 I had the highest: - call conversion rate - average sale - total monthly sales - Single sale in the history of the company 🤑 More than sales there was also a call criteria you had to hit. - Tonality 😁 - Quantity & quality of adjectives 🌌 - Using the customer’s name a minimum amount of times 🗣️ - Describing attractions 😎 - Finding out if they are celebrating 🎉 (And much more) They would record and grade the calls as well. 💯 I also had the highest call quality scores in the company. 💪🏻 While there are always tips & tricks you learn in every industry… there were 1️⃣ thing I was doing that nobody else was. It definitely set me apart. I made a list on a small whiteboard. Then checked each objective as I hit it. 📋✅ Two other key factors that got me to that level and beyond were the people. I had an internal champion in Maggie Kinman-Cook. And a mentor Darren Prescott. Both of these people will always hold a special place in my heart. ❤️ Both went out of their way to make sure I lived up to my potential. I remember when I was in the interview of Reservations Agent position. I did not understand what Reservations tasks were. How lucky I was when Ms. lovely HR told me clearly about what Reservations Agent did ❤️❤️❤️ Time flies. Over ten years I have been working in hospitality. Today I would like to note down some Reservations tasks to my current colleagues as well as future colleagues. 1. Engaging with potential guests and promoting the hotel's reservation services to secure bookings. 2. Proficiency in using Property Management Systems (PMS) to efficiently manage reservations, room inventory, and guest information. 3. Acquiring comprehensive knowledge about the hotel's facilities, room types, rates, and policies to provide accurate and personalized information to guests. 4. Effectively communicating with guests, both verbally and in writing, to address inquiries, provide recommendations, and confirm reservations. 5. Resolving issues related to reservations, such as availability conflicts, guest preferences, cancellations, and modifications, in a prompt and satisfactory manner. 6. Managing reservations from diverse market segments, including individual travelers, groups, corporate clients, travel agents, and online platforms, while ensuring adherence to applicable sales strategies and revenue management practices.
