If we are talking about a shift of the centre of gravity in European decision-making to the East, then perhaps it is time to see more Eastern Europeans taking on leadership roles within the EU bloc. Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, Romania has demonstrated its vocation as a factor of stability in the region. Unlike other players in the region, Romania has not deviated from the European project, and the stability of the government ensured by the grand coalition has weighed a lot in this equation. Perhaps not as vocally as some analysts would like, but through consistency and discretion, Romania has managed to be the credible, willing and committed partner in promoting Euro-Atlantic values that Europe needed in the biggest security crisis of recent years. Romania's assumption of the presidency of the European Council, all the more so in the context of the subsequent European agenda in which #enlargement and #reform occupy leading positions, would be a first step to distance ourselves from the mentality of a two-speed Europe, more cohesion between regions and a reaffirmation of a clear, unambiguous geopolitical direction. #Romania #EUCO https://lnkd.in/dV__QirP

🧵South Korean prime minister’s Europe tour signals deepening partnerships ROK PM Han Duck-soo is touring Europe to boost ties with France, Denmark, Croatia, and Greece, focusing on defense, shipbuilding, green energy, health, and technology cooperation. The National Assembly is currently conducting audits of ministries, the Supreme Court, and the Prime Minister's Office, which are crucial ahead of the April general elections, taking place from Oct. 10 to 27. 📌Why it matters While PM Han’s visit to Europe takes place 50 days before the 2030 World Expo bid announcement, his visit to Denmark emphasizes green initiatives and may involve discussions about aid to Ukraine, following Denmark's decision to supply F-16 fighter jets. On the other hand, Han's forthcoming visit to Greece is noteworthy as it's the first by a South Korean prime minister in six years. In 2022, Greece became the largest purchaser of South Korean ships, ordering over 50 vessels, accounting for nearly 20% of annual sales. https://buff.ly/3ZL1gdX 📫 Want more bite-size analysis like this to start your morning, delivered to your inbox before work?
