New hire "So why don't more brands invest in actual #SEO?" Me "It's vitamins, not medicine" *confusion*... so then a longer conversation about two approaches: Cheap SEO * low price, low effort, no progress, but "we're doing it" * deprioritized b/c it takes time * often stopped b/c the fallout also takes time * very common, especially with SMB or laggard industries Actual SEO * high effort, high result * arguably the number one marketing investment * common with tech disruptors or the top 1-2 industry leaders
