3 Things that make a successful procurement professional stand out from the crowd! Experience, knowledge, and networking certainly play a part. But what truly sets procurement leaders apart are: 𝟭. 𝗔𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗻! The world of procurement is evolving at an unprecedented rate - driven by technology advancements, shifting supplier markets and escalating customer demands. With this rapid change comes significant disruption; understandings that were once considered best practice no longer apply, and strategies that worked in the past may be rendered ineffective. And this brings us to the second part ... 𝟮. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲-𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴! It's probably obvious, that to understand what worked in the past and does not work any longer, can only be achieved through continuous learning. The ability to "Unlearn and Re-Learn" is probably much more important than the ability to learn, especially the "Unlearn" part. 𝟯. 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲! Unless we can influence everyone that we come in contact with, it's going to be difficult to impossible to do our job. Procurement deals with internal customers/end-users, finance, C-Level, and suppliers. Without knowing how to influence people it's an uphill battle.
