Franchise feature in the latest issue of Brutus Magazine. Japanese/English translation: The LA brand "FRANCHISE" is interesting. As the name of their magazine implies, it features a distinguished lineup, including Rui Hachimura and former U.S. President Barack Obama, who is known as a basketball enthusiast. The magazine also has an art magazine aspect, featuring creators such as sculptor Paul Pfeiffer and curator/artist Ava Nirui. The cover artwork for the latest issue is by New York artist Chris Lloyd. The man behind the magazine, Justin Montag, is a former basketball player who is still an avid fan. After college, he interned at Turntable Lab, a Manhattan record store, and worked for Fader Magazine, he was also involved in the launch of Apple Music. One of the triggers for the magazine's launch was the Daikanyama Tsutaya bookstore, where he saw magazines from many different countries while he had a business trip to Tokyo. “I thought it would be great if we could do something new based on basketball, which I love, and incorporate different elements," he says. Last summer, they opened a gallery in Chinatown and launched a clothing line with designer Jake Zielinksi. Franchise's genre-defying developments are unpredictable and exciting, and by following the trends of this connoisseur, we can also check in with key figures in the art and fashion industries, especially in North America. They will be unveiling his new work at Paris Men's Fashion Week this fall. We look forward to hearing more.
