Facilitation should be viewed as a mindset integrated into the design process. By maintaining mindfulness, intentional efforts are made to ensure accessible interactions with our work. This approach confirms that beyond workshops, various forms of facilitation are essential when addressing complex social projects.

Faço minhas as palavras da Amyris Fernandez, Ph.D. 💚
Systemic insights driven innovation leader - Owner @ UX Change Academy - Regeneration, UX, Innovation, Training
Aqui a Natureza dita o ritmo.

Our role as designers is precisely to support a sensible and conscious process.
Figma makes it very easy to make hi-def comps and essentially encourages you to skip over lo-def wireframes. I’ve watched repeatedly where stakeholders or devs think the initial workup the designer is presenting is The Final Version. And that leads to confusion, arguing, and a lot of “but it LOOKED done!” And these moments are the only time I miss Balasmiq. #ux

Ever wondered about the true effectiveness of job interviews? Brad Dunn dives deep into the reality behind hiring practices, citing research that challenges conventional wisdom. According to him, job interviews often lead to hiring the best actor on the day, rather than the best candidate for the role. His insights, backed by studies from top academic and business sources like Harvard Business Review and Forbes, paint a compelling picture of why traditional interview methods might not always serve the hiring process well. https://lnkd.in/dMR6Qc2Y #JobInterviews #HiringProcess #ThoughtLeadership

System thinking 💚
Integrate systems thinking into your user research and testing. We love Leyla Acaroglu’s article on concepts for adopting a systems mindset to tackle complex problems (Disrupt Design’s illustration is terrific, too). She stresses that mastering these concepts enhances divergent and creative thinking for a positive impact. Read her article: https://lnkd.in/g7Fvq58H Check out each concept with ways to use Helio: 1️⃣ Interconnectedness ↳ Highlights elements' reliance on each other, urging a shift from linear to circular thinking. → Gather data on user interactions across touchpoints to visualize how changes in one part affect the whole user experience. Collect feedback from stakeholders to understand the broader ecosystem and dependencies within the product team. 2️⃣ Synthesis ↳ Involves understanding the whole and its parts simultaneously, recognizing relationships and connections within a system. → Combine qual and quant data to comprehensively view user needs, preferences, and behaviors, identifying patterns and connections. Use surveys, usability tests, and multivariate concept testing to gain insights, creating a robust understanding of user interactions. 3️⃣ Emergence ↳ Describes how complex systems and patterns arise from simpler interactions, illustrating non-linearity and self-organization. → Analyze user behaviors to identify patterns or unexpected ways users interact with the product. Simulate user scenarios and observe emergent outcomes to understand how system elements create the overall user experience. 4️⃣ Feedback Loops ↳ Systems are characterized by feedback loops, which can be reinforcing (leading to exponential growth) or balancing (maintaining stability). → Set up continuous feedback mechanisms to regularly collect and analyze user input, identifying, reinforcing, or balancing feedback loops. Implement changes based on feedback and test the outcomes with iterative testing, creating a dynamic feedback loop for continuous improvement. 5️⃣ Causality ↳ Understanding how actions and events influence each other within a dynamic system emphasizes the importance of discerning cause and effect. → Conduct experiments and A/B tests to determine causal relationships between design elements and user behaviors, pinpointing the effects of specific changes. Visualize how factors (e.g., design changes and new features) influence user satisfaction and engagement. 6️⃣ Systems Mapping ↳ It involves identifying and visualizing the elements and their interconnections within a system to gain insights and inform interventions. → Create detailed maps of the user experience by combining data from tests and surveys to understand how different components interact and influence each other. Use systems maps to identify critical leverage points within the user journey where small changes can lead to significant improvements, guiding strategic decision-making. #uxresearch #productdiscovery #marketresearch #productdesign

Becoming a senior designer is a significant milestone, but it is not the end. Much more can be achieved beyond that. Remember, on your journey to becoming a senior designer and beyond: fear and doubt will always be present, but do not let them hinder you. Embrace fear, seek challenges, make mistakes, learn, and grow with each attempt.

Reflecting on my journey through college, I realized the importance of cultivating a strong portfolio. Since then, I've been relentless in crafting and refining it. These tips have been invaluable in shaping my portfolio and ultimately, my professional identity. Remember, your portfolio is more than just a collection of work samples—it's a reflection of who you are and the journey you've embarked on. So, embrace your trajectory, celebrate your work, and showcase your life through your portfolio. #Portfolio #Design #ProfessionalJourney 🌟🎨
You don't need to 👇 ❌ Divide case studies based on projects ❌ Follow a typical blog-style case study story structure ❌ Talk about every challenge you tackled in one case study ❌ Wait until the end of a case study to brag about your impact and learnings Do this instead 👇 1️⃣ Divide your case studies based on the problems you tackled It will help you create a clearer, more coherent story. You'll easily navigate between broad perspectives and specific design details, making your case study more understandable and quicker to grasp. You can also create multiple case studies from a single, larger project. 2️⃣ Start your case study story already on the home page Know your key skills, superpowers, and achievements, and start your story by showcasing these on the home page. Make them your snapshots. Use short descriptions and engaging visuals. Then link them to relevant case studies. Know what you want to highlight. 3️⃣ Create separate case studies for different challenges, e.g. design and leadership work In a low UX maturity organisation, you likely tackled both design challenges and design culture issues. You solved user problems, designed mockups, and created guidelines to streamline future design processes. Discussing both areas in one case study makes it hard to build a cohesive story. Address design challenges in one case study and your leadership skills in another. 4️⃣ Create executive summaries and highlights Show the final solution and discuss your impact in the case story thumbnail and the case study hero section. Be strategic about what you highlight on the home page. Leverage other platforms like your resume and LinkedIn to showcase your achievements. 5️⃣ Highlight things you want to do again Your first case study should be your best, the one you would work on again today. Your case study should highlight what you want to do now. If you worked in Fintech but want to change industries, focus the narrative on design challenges rather than industry challenges. -------------- What would you add to this list? Let me know in the comments 🙂 -------------- If you haven't already, join 2.300+ designers getting portfolio tips in their inbox 👇 💌 Subscribe for free to UX Design Express 🔗 Link in the comments -------------- Disclaimer 📣 This post is just me sharing my experiences, thoughts and what I've picked up from analysing 300 UX portfolios. Making your design portfolio is like a blank canvas - there's no one right way to do it. Every designer has different stories and the preference of hiring managers varies. So if you're feeling it, go nuts and do your own thing! Can't wait to see what you come up with! #uxportfolio #uxdesigner

Hilarious! Simon Weckert turned Google Maps into his personal traffic puppet show by strolling Berlin with 99 smartphones.🚶📱🚗
Founder | Data Science Wizard | Author | Forbes Next 1000 | Global talent awardee | APAC Entrepreneur of the year
Funny and Thought-Provoking: The 2020 Google Map Hack in Berlin 🚦 In a blend of humor and social commentary, artist Simon Weckert managed to create a virtual traffic jam on Google Maps. How? By simply filling a cart with 99 active smartphones and taking a walk through the streets of Berlin. This ingenious hack not only tricked Google Maps into showing a traffic jam but also highlighted our deep reliance on digital tools in unconventional ways. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐩𝐬 🌍 Since its launch in 2005, Google Maps has become a colossal force in the geolocation market. With over 2 billion unique users per month, Google Maps now dominates the global scene: - 16 million km of roads captured on Google Street View - 60 million km² mapped on Google Earth - 98% of the land inhabited by humans meticulously photographed and mapped 𝐈𝐧 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 18 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬, 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐩𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝: - Optimized Travel: Streamlining travel times and routes, transforming our mobility habits. - Transactional Relationships: Turning our interaction with space into a series of transactions, guided by ratings and reviews of shops, restaurants, and tourist sites. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞 💸 As our world becomes increasingly digital, the influence of tools like Google Maps will only grow. Imagine a future where Google monetizes every aspect of our geolocated experiences, much like WeChat in China, taking a cut from every transaction facilitated through its platform. What are your thoughts on this? How do you think geolocation tools like Google Maps will shape our future interactions and commerce? #innovation #technology #future #management #startups
