https://lnkd.in/ea6_x_Hw I have been working in ophthalmic care for 35 years starting with my DVM degree as a Doctor in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery and I specialized in ophthalmic care. I practiced many surgeries in dogs like #cataract, at the beginning with extracapsular extraction and very soon after with #phacoemulsification technique. And believe me it's so difficult a cataract surgery in dogs ! Because you need of course general anaesthesia, not easy to put the head and the eye in the good position (no cooperation from the dog!), the cornea don't have a Bowman layer so that it collapse immediately just after opening and you don't see anything, the intraocular structures are reacting with much more intensity than in humans and often a lot of fibrin invade the anterior chamber, the anterior capsule is about 10 times thicker than in humans and cannot be removed just with a forceps, the lens is extremely thick and cataract grades are usually much more advanced... When I saw a cataract surgery in humans it seemed to me so easy compared to dogs ! Then I switched to human healthcare in 1989, creating and manufacturing since then innovative devices like first small incision PMMA Intra ocular lenses, phaco machine, HIFU machine for treating glaucoma non invasively and more recently the first ultrafast robotic laser for cataract surgery. All these accomplishments were like a dream for me to merge technology and surgery and putting innovative and breakthrough innovations in the surgeon's hands, bringing my contribution to patient's sight improvement... When phacoemulsification started in France in 1990 I was in charge among Domilens company (after B&L) of creating a new trend in France for adopting phaco as the new gold standard. It was in 1990 -1993. Then I trained hundred surgeons in our giant wetlab and in many ORs everywhere. Since then I have created other innovative devices and trained many other surgeons in many other countries in Europe. Today I'm considered as a veteran in eye surgery and I can say that I'm able to classify the surgeons by their skills. And to be honest, among very few others, Dr. MUDr. Pavel Stodůlka, Ph.D., FEBOS-CR was one of those who impressed me more. He is really brilliant and perform surgery with uncomparable beautiful gesture, able to find the best solution in every situation. It was a honor and also a great pleasure to have the opportunity to work with him during our clinical trials for FemtoMatrix machine. He has been the first in the world to perform a photoemulsification, perhaps the new gold standard for tomorrow cataract surgery, and I remember the big "WOW !!" when we saw the first lens emulsified by the laser. MUDr. Pavel Stodůlka, Ph.D., FEBOS-CR is a pioneer and an incredible human participating actively to surgery improvements.

3 Years at Embryo 💙 This week marks my official 3 year anniversary here at Embryo and it’s been one hell of a journey. Not only has my knowledge and skillset significantly improved but I’ve been incredibly fortunate to work alongside some of the most talented people and been involved in some great campaigns and events over the last few years. Don’t get me wrong there’s been some ups and downs along the way but what job doesn’t, if anything it’s taught me just how resilient and persistent I can really be when I’m determined to overcome obstacles. These type of posts can usually be very soppy but I genuinely have a lot of people I want to thank for the support they’ve given me and the amazing friends I’ve made for life over the last few years. Shona Worsman, Danielle James, Adam Chapman, Kara Smith, Ryan Jones & Amy Leach - These guys I’ve worked very closely with over the last few years and have put up with me day in and day out and I couldn’t have asked for a better bunch of people to work with in the organic team. Dan McCartney & Mark McGonigle - Our Head of Organic and Delivery Director, two invididuals who have been a much needed support and have kept me on my toes with new challenges to ensure I’m constantly developing and bettering myself. Last but not least… Ross Green & James Welch - I don’t think I’ve ever met two people like Ross and James. I’ve worked in a fair few agencies prior to Embryo and one thing that stands out is there focus on people, this is something that’s incredibly rare in many businesses. I’m incredibly grateful for the culture they've created at Embryo where they continue to bring brilliant people together as well as embracing myself here from the beginning. There leadership, advice, support and unbelievable generosity hasn’t gone unnoticed since I first started - even if James does think I’m just a full time drama queen. 𝐀 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐲 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬. We all love celebrating success stories. But what you might not see on most profiles are the failures that paved the way. I remember a quote from John Wooden, which I have come to know is so true on my journey: "𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐟𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐥, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐛𝐞" Let me shed some light on my journey. My first journal submission? Rejected in a record 20 minutes! My consultant (also my co-author) called me with the news just 20 minutes after I submitted the manuscript during my OPD. Talk about a confidence crusher. And that's not all: unfinished articles like my very first original one, missed follow-ups with patients leading to unpublished case reports/series – you name it, I've probably stumbled there. To top it off, I didn't even know the "R" of Research Methodology when I started my post-graduation. The point? Success isn't a straight line. It's a messy, challenging journey. I felt like I was hitting rock bottom at times, but guess what? I picked myself up, filled in the knowledge gaps, and kept pushing. Here's the truth: These failures are the stepping stones to my achievements. They taught me resilience, adaptability, and the sheer grit it takes to succeed in research. So, if you're feeling stuck or discouraged, remember this: Those roadblocks are there for a reason. Learn from them, adapt, and keep moving forward.
