A little over a year ago, Google took one of its biggest steps to date to catch up in AI: merging its AI labs, Google Brain and DeepMind, which had long separated as separate fiefdom. The union helps Google run headlong after the competition and smooth the path from research advances to product. But can Google make these changes without disrupting the culture that sparked so many breakthroughs in the first place? My latest story, with Mark Bergen: https://lnkd.in/gXibtTKm

Balancing cutting-edge research with product development is always tricky. Google's merger of Brain and DeepMind is a bold move.

For all of us looking at this evolution from the outside, Google's lack of focus on building products was baffling, especially as #GenAI took off almost 2 years ago with #ChatGPT. It is refreshing to see that they have started to realize the value of their research, and put some focus on taking it out of the lab and into the field. Whatever the future may hold for #AI products at Google, this maturing of strategy is good to see. Great article Julia Love

This is a prequel to the Big Reset where we will talk about how we plan to restart computer science V 2.0. 🚀 This piece will introduce a few parts of The Future City Platform and CS 2.0 role to foster environments where technology serves humanity, supporting all living systems without the detriments of traditional digital frameworks. Read about our vision for cities that integrate with Personal Assistant Liaisons (PALs) and educational models that nurture natural connections, preparing future generations for a regenerative world. #future #ComputerScience #Sustainability #TechForGood hashtag #AIforGood #AI #innovation #RegenerativeDevelopment https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/impact-ai-big-tech-society-david-ladouceur-7amdc/?trackingId=fuFtH%2FTkRiSkF7emnjQ6fQ%3D%3D 🔗contact: http://rdc.re/contactus

The biggest breakthrough in AI over the last decade has to be Black Vikings. Thanks Google. But it being June and all, when can we expect Gay Vikings?

Scientific discovery and business roadmap are quite wide apart in the spectrum, especially when you expect the scientific community to make deep discoveries that change the course of technology for decades to come. Julia Love
