GLP 1 is in India Now. The hottest thing in the weight loss world right now that has added 100s of Bn US$ valuation to Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly on the back of this single class of drugs. Everyone from Elon Musk to Oprah are openly talking about it. It's not a fad, either, GLP-1 drugs have been around for years. But it’s only now that they are being used for weight loss with extensive studies and FDA approval backing them. March 30, 2024. 45 days medication free. 37°F with 15+ mile an hour winds. Left at 8:30 AM and ran 16 miles in just under 4 hours with an average of 14 minutes 45 s/mi. I was exhausted but still felt that I had some gas in my tank to continue. Fully recovered the next day. April 3, 2024. Oncology visit. Good news I remain in remission with an undetectable PSA. Unfortunately, I also had an undetectable testosterone and remain anemic with a hematocrit of 37.4%. My 8 AM cortisol improved almost 10-fold from my last visit and was 11.4. As I had suspected the abiraterone that I was taking to suppress androgen production in my adrenal glands was also causing me to have adrenal insufficiency i.e. unable to make significant cortisol. This caused severe fatigue and my zombie syndrome that I experienced in the late afternoons. The fatigue and zombie like state all resolved within 5 days of stopping abiraterone. My blood fasting glucose was 117 mg percent and so my diabetes has also significantly resolved because of stopping my medications including prednisone. In preparation for the strenuous Boston Marathon, I have made substantial changes in my diet. I was aware that long distance running can cause muscle breakdown and therefore there is a need to increase protein intake. I found on Abbott.com/marathons the recommendation of 1 g of protein/body weight which for me would be 150 g of protein daily. I initiated increasing my protein intake with Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% whey protein which contains 24 g of protein and 120 cal in a scoop. I added this to 8 ounces of 2% milk which contains 8 g of protein and 120 cal. I have 2 of these shakes a day giving me an additional 64 g of protein in my diet. For breakfast I have steal cut oatmeal with berries and for lunch Chicopee pasta which is an excellent source of complex carbohydrates and protein. A serving contains 190 cal and 10 g of protein.
