This week, our Employee Spotlight is on Mark, a Service Desk Analyst at HealthHero. We asked him three questions: 1) Mark, can you tell us about your background? How did you come to have the job you do? Previously I've worked in hospitality and care but decided to change career direction and looked to start in IT. It's an area that I have had a passion for and I had already taught myself quite a bit. I came across the job and decided to apply and the interviews I had with both HR and my current manager convinced me, that these were people that I wanted to work with. I knew this was a career I wanted progress in. 2) What do you enjoy about your job? I have two favourite elements to my job. The first are the constantly evolving elements causing me to learn new skills, which I can then pass along to both colleagues and those I support. Secondly, I appreciate interacting with everyone at all levels within the company! It gives IT a very unique exposure to all sections of the company and their perspectives. 3) What do you hope to see in the future of digital healthcare? Ease of access both to medical assessments and advice, but also to prescriptions. Also, the ability to be assessed by the appropriate medical professional within a short time scale. --- Thanks for everything you do, Mark! #healthhero #digitalhealth #workculture

Why do you want to leave patient care? I get asked this question a lot on my journey towards a non-clinical role. While I enjoy helping others, building relationships with patients, and helping them to adopt lifestyle changes, and meet goals, I keep running into the same problems again, and again. In every clinical role I take. Documentation, patient scheduling, patient outreach, updating staff on changes to workflows, clinic usage, and hiring new therapists. These problems existed in every place where I worked. Some employers let me work on other projects such as building new service lines, creating documentation templates, marketing, and coordinating student affiliations, these were things that I could only work on when I had a patient cancel or on my days off. Working on these other projects helped me to develop another non-clinical skill set. Building relationships, working with multiple stakeholders, content creation, managing contracts, onboarding, front-end web development, writing business cases, driving adoption- the list goes on. In this next chapter of my career, I want opportunities to utilize this skill set and help to solve some of these bigger problems in healthcare. #customersuccess #nonclinicalcareers #phyicaltherapist #careerchange #healthtech #careermobility #csm
