Intentionality is different from desire. Many programs want to grow, they strive to grow, but there is not always intentionality as to how they go about that, especially when it comes to community need and program design. In this episode, our CEO speaks with Jaime Vinck, CEO of Recovery Ways and former CEO of Sierra Tuscon, regarding building a program with intentionality. How should programs look at community need, payer relationships, and program development BEFORE they open up a new program? Well, after almost 20 episodes, podcasting on global affairs with a ten-year old, I have learned a ton about both Maya and podcasting. Here are my key takeaways on the latter: 1) Traditional media rules hold: Our most popular episodes so far have been, for better or worse, on the personalities that dominate the news..... Taylor Swift ("Is Taylor Swift Changing... Business?") and Donald Trump ("An Introduction to Trump's Legal Problems"). 2) Guests are critical to growth: We have had one adult guest and six "kid" guests and those shows have been both the most fun to record and the podcast benefits from their (parents) excitement to share the show with family and friends 3) Content generation is exhausting!: We commit a few hours each week to researching, lightly scripting, recording and editing. It is challenging (though rewarding!) to record each week... and we have had to miss one or two when Maya has just been too busy or schedules can't align! 4) The news cycle moves quickly (!): We have researched on Monday and been out of date by Wednesday! We even cancelled an episode because the news had changed so much! 5) Accuracy - Whoah!: Even when you are researching an issue thoroughly, inevitably, questions and angles emerge during the show. And... It is incredibly hard to be 100% accurate! We have a ton of empathy and respect for newscasters who report live or even those who are prepped! We have had a few gaffs and have just gone back and noted them on the next show - they may not have that luxury! Anyway, we are having a ton of fun. Check out the show - tell a 9-14 year old friend....though adults tell us they learn from the podcast too! :) #podcast #newspodcast #swifties #swiftprogramming #kidsentertainment #kidsactivities #kidseducation https://lnkd.in/e63K8uis

How can we build communities around the impact we want to make in the world? How do we get people engaged and excited to support our missions when we are all so busy and tied up in all our commitments already. How do we get others to care when we are starting to feel numb? Numb because there is simply too much to do to fix this world. Numb because we tried and we feel we failed or we didn’t even dare to try to make our own impact in the first place. Finding answers to these questions inspired our new season. In Season 6 we will delve into the theme of “COMMUNITY“, bringing to light the often overlooked aspects of the changemakers’ journeys — the trials, tribulations, and the profound humanity behind their extraordinary work.
