🚀 Exciting News to Share! 🚀 I am thrilled to announce that I have been accepted into The Futurum Programme at Queen's University Belfast, starting June 19, 2024! This opportunity will allow me to dive deep into the entrepreneurial world every Wednesday for the next 10 weeks, with a focus on innovation and business development. Throughout the programme, I'll be engaging in various activities designed to enhance entrepreneurial skills, including workshops, networking events, site visits, and exclusive sessions with seasoned entrepreneurs. Returning to America to attend the 10th anniversary of the MIT REAP - Regional Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program was one of the highlights of 2023. The event emphasised the crucial role of universities in fostering regional entrepreneurship and discussion s focused on the need for strategic leadership in integrating entrepreneurship into the core mission of universities. This includes implementing strategies to encourage student enterprises and ensuring resources are committed to nurturing entrepreneurial talent. As a passionate advocate for university-driven entrepreneurship, I believe we must prioritise this in our academic institutions to make a tangible impact on local and global economies. However, there are now concerns in the sector that as UK universities face increased financial pressures in 2024, there may fewer resources made available in the future to support graduate entrepreneurs. As the late Queen, Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II, observed at COP26 in Glasgow two years ago “the time for words has now moved to the time for action”. We in HES believe that this is very much the case with respect not just to entrepreneurship education but to its application to the sustainability challenge. While we welcome the 2023 NCEE “Driving Entrepreneurship in Education” report and were delighted to discover that 80% of the UK university respondents reported an increase in enterprise activity over the past 3 years, we were particularly disappointed to learn that support for enterprise in local schools has fallen significantly over the past 10 years. This is why HES is not focusing its efforts solely on HE but on schools and community initiatives, and why Felicity is demonstrating, in Dafen Primary School, just what can be achieved. Launching Your Business (L) - This stage is open to students who already have a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) or a developed idea and are at the point of starting their enterprise. Growing Your Business (G) - This stage is open to students who have already established their businesses and are seeking for ways to foster growth.
