Sihanoukville's Future: Learning from Las Vegas's Incredible Transformation 🎰🌴 I've been thinking a lot about how we can bring new life to Sihanoukville after the real estate boom ended in 2019. How can we make this city exciting again and bring back tourists? 🤔 The Chinese tried to turn Sihanoukville into another Macau, but I think we should look at Las Vegas for ideas. 🎲 When I looked at Las Vegas's past, I found some interesting similarities to Sihanoukville today. In the 1960s, Las Vegas was a town built mostly with money from organized crime groups on the East Coast. But then, real investors started putting money into building hotels, and things began to change. 💰 Back then, big stars like Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra performed in Vegas, but it was nothing like it is now. Today, amazing shows like Cirque du Soleil are a huge reason why people visit. 🎪 This made me think: what if we could get Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group to come to Sihanoukville? It's a big dream, but it's worth thinking about. 💭 If Sihanoukville could partner with a famous brand like Cirque du Soleil, it would create a lot of excitement and bring in high-quality resorts, restaurants, and entertainment to a city that doesn't have much to do right now. 🌟 This change could help Sihanoukville attract a new kind of tourist – people who are willing to pay more for unique, top-notch experiences. 💸 I want to know what you think about this idea. Since I posted about Disney's "This Is Magic" campaign and how I would've arrived to that creative, I thought I'd share my thoughts on Universal Orlando Resort's take on how a vacation in Orlando should be like. Here's how I would've arrived at Universal's "It's more than magic. It's real." creative. Campaign: "It's more than magic. It's real." Target audience: Tourists and families who perceive theme parks as not a "real vacation". Consumer problem: Tourists with families don't go to Universal because it doesn't provide a "magical experience". Insight: Magic isn't real, so magical experiences are often artificial or fake. Advantage: Universal positions themselves as a place where movies come to life, as in real life. Strategy: Show tourists that they can experience something real at Universal Orlando by showing them real experiences make a longer lasting impression than magical ones.
