Curious in the first instance to know the data on any change in divorce rates, marriage rates and involvement in religion. This data doesn't surprise me one bit. For a long time now, I've been worried about the exclusive and often divisive way that women's equality messaging has been framed. All too often, we use blame and shame (neither of which are helpful in bringing people with us) and rarely do we communicate the benefits of gender equality to men. All of which contributes to the incorrect perception that to support women's rights, men will have to sacrifice their own. When in fact, the opposite is true. Gender equality offers as many benefits for men as it does women. To better understand this and to find some practical solutions, I contributed a paper for the Rogare - The Fundraising Think Tank Gender Issues in Fundraising project. WOMEN - YOU want MY SUPPORT to STOP trans gender ideology I have been talking about the dangers to exposing our children to trans gender ideology for close to a year. This includes not diagnosing or treating gender dysphoric children's underlying mental health conditions and the rapid onset gender dysphoria contagion hitting our gay and straight girls (checkout my posts on the issues if interested). However I have been more reluctant to talk about trans gender ideology from a 'womens perspective' because I'm a man. However, on 25th March I was forced to step in to help the women who had gathered to talk about womens issues. Since then I have been contacted by a number of women saying they are "TO SCARED TO SAY THEY DON'T AGREE WITH IT". OK the trans community did intimidate and assault women but is that it? I asked these women why they were scared and they said jobs and reputation. Increasingly businesses are pushing this ideology (via DIE) and you could lose your job, or friends, for not believing that a man can not become a women. OK so its physical and phycological intimidation that is stopping more women from speaking out. So I ran a quick survey on here to see what women think. Of the 15 who have answered so far 93% have said they do not support trans gender ideology. Now this is in stark contrast to the claims of the trans activists who contend there is majority support for the ideology by women. However this is not the first time the trans community has make such claims. They have claimed that parents support gender ideology education in schools. Turns out 76% of parent do not support it with only 10% supporting it. So from majority support to 10% support. Like much of what they claim its ether backwards or wrong. Women do not support the trans gender ideology at all. Its also worth noting that there is not universal support even in the rainbow community. This is what the LGB Alliance NZ think of the trans ideology; "It's time for New Zealand to catch up and follow the evidence, not the demands of TQ+ ”gender identity" activist organisations and clinicians to the detriment of a generation of children's lifelong health and wellbeing. All children should have the right to reach adulthood unharmed by injurious medical experimentation." OK women you now have my attention. I WILL NOW FIGHT on your behalf until this abomination of an ideology is thrown out for good or women themselves ask me to stop. LETS GO

This is a wildly interesting article on the vastly divergent worldviews of Gen Z, by gender! “One of the most well-established patterns in measuring public opinion is that every generation tends to move as one in terms of its politics and general ideology. Its members share the same formative experiences, reach life’s big milestones at the same time and intermingle in the same spaces. So how should we make sense of reports that Gen Z is hyper-progressive on certain issues, but surprisingly conservative on others? The answer, in the words of Alice Evans, a visiting fellow at Stanford University and one of the leading researchers on the topic, is that today’s under-thirties are undergoing a great gender divergence, with young women in the former camp and young men the latter. Gen Z is two generations, not one.” In countries including Korea, Germany, Poland, the US and UK, ideological sorting by gender is going on. Many possible explanations, from the conservative assault on reproductive rights to the fact that women and men now occupy separate spaces on the internet, or, as the author puts it, the “algorithmically walled gardens of Tik Tok”. Graphs indicate that women are becoming more progressive/liberal while men are becoming more conservative (and regressive). A bigger point is that it good now and then to check and challenge your assumptions - the example here is that many of us presume that society as a whole is becoming more progressive with each generation.

Very interesting to think what this will mean for our workplaces but also broader societal development. How do managers and governors harness this level of thought diversity while also ensuring a cohesive business direction.

These rights are crucial for women's health and well-being, allowing them to plan their families and make informed choices about their reproductive health. Moreover, women's rights promote political participation and representation. By ensuring that women have equal opportunities to engage in politics and hold leadership positions, countries can benefit from diverse perspectives and experiences. Women's participation in decision-making processes leads to more inclusive policies and better governance. Furthermore, women's rights are closely linked to the overall development of societies. Studies have shown that when women are empowered and have control over their own lives, they invest in the well-being of their families and communities. This leads to improved health and education outcomes for future generations, contributing to sustainable development. In conclusion, women's rights are essential for achieving gender equality and promoting the overall development of societies. They ensure equal opportunities for women in education, employment, and leadership positions, protect women from discrimination and violence, and promote reproductive rights and political participation. By upholding these rights, countries can create a more just, inclusive, and prosperous society for all.

The 1990s marked a pivotal moment in the world of development, as the concept of human rights began to intertwine deeply with our understanding of what true progress entails. 🌏 The Rise of Rights: The decade saw an influx of rights-based thinking into development agendas. Influential conventions like the Rights of a Child and critical UN conferences broadened our perspective, introducing rights related to the environment, women's freedom from violence, and sexual and reproductive rights. This era witnessed a shift from viewing social issues as mere needs to recognizing them as fundamental rights, bringing a sense of duty and responsibility to the forefront. 🎯 Millennium Development Goals - A Mixed Legacy: The turn of the millennium brought with it the MDGs, aimed at ending poverty and fostering global development. While initially met with optimism, the MDGs soon faced criticism for shifting from a rights-based language to a service-oriented approach. Critical issues like the right to live free from violence and sexual and reproductive rights were sidelined in favour of measurable, service-based targets. This shift led to concerns that the MDGs, while well-intentioned, were detracting from the core issues of gender equality and the systemic injustices that impede the realisation of rights. 🤔 Reflecting on Progress and Challenges: As we look back, it's important to acknowledge both the strides made and the obstacles encountered. The integration of rights into development has been a significant step forward, yet it's clear that our journey towards a world where everyone's rights are fully realised is ongoing. “You made it off the W108 waitlist and were added to the course…” I got an email notification, and this was the topic of the email. It read thus: “Good news, We reviewed the roster again this morning and were able to allow the last three students off the waitlist into the course, you among them... Anke and Deborah” I literally shed tears. You might be wondering: who gets this excited to get into an intensive course? Well, Excellence! I really wanted to get into this course this semester and here is why: In the last 5 years of my life, I dedicated my waking up and sleeping to empowering African women. I was so driven like I was intoxicated; the truth is I was really intoxicated. I had gone through so much pain as a helpless woman prior and didn’t want any more young women I knew, or would meet to experience this. So I focused on ensuring young women have their own money and build the capacity to be self-sustainable so they could make decisions from a place of power with not vulnerability and no options. However, the twist is that I have my background in healthcare, and I really love healthcare and wanted to go back to healthcare (digital innovation in global health specifically), but I struggled to see how I could tie this with the work I already did, my exceptional digital skills, and the platform I was building. This left me utterly confused about how to move forward. I saw no way that these two intersected. When shopping for courses this semester, I encountered this course based on a recommendation from my departmental list. Now, here is the interesting part: the course overview. “The course will provide core knowledge and skills from several disciplines on how to improve women's health and well-being globally, and it will follow a life course framework. It aims to expand students’ understanding of the interconnected factors that influence women’s health and empowerment - including foundations of sexual and reproductive health, economic development, political frameworks and global reproductive rights, demographic and social changes, basic principles of empowerment theory, educational opportunities, and efforts to ensure gender equity.” Gbam! Who says God doesn’t answer prayers? He promised in Isaiah 30 verse 20 “…that your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them.” We started Week 4, and what a blessing it has been. I feel like I’m in a glove that fits perfectly! I can't even explain how grateful I am. For this course project, I will be leading my team to investigate and design a policy brief on "Women's Access to Reproductive Healthcare Services in Nigeria". 8th March 2024 is this years International Women's Day. international Women's Day (IWD) is a worldwide celebration observed every year on March 8 as a central point in the women's rights movement. IWD highlights issues like gender parity, reproductive rights, and the prevalence of violence and mistreatment against women. Stemming from the global suffrage movement, IWD has its roots in labor movements that arose in North America and Europe in the early 20th century. The initial documentation of a "Women's Day" was held by the Socialist Party of America in New York City on February 28, 1909. This event prompted German representatives at the 1910 International Socialist Women's Conference to suggest the organization of an annual "special Women's Day," although the specific date was not fixed. The subsequent year witnessed the inaugural demonstrations and observances of International Women's Day throughout Europe. Following the attainment of suffrage by women under the Russian Provisional Government in 1917, IWD was established as a national holiday on March 8; subsequently, it was consistently celebrated on this date by socialist movements and communist nations. Initially affiliated with leftist movements and governments, the holiday gained broader recognition with its incorporation into the global feminist movement in the late 1960s. The mainstream acknowledgment of International Women's Day as a global holiday was solidified with its endorsement by the United Nations in 1977.
