Joshua Zinder Architecture + Design’s Post

May is #MentalHealth awareness month! At JZA+D, we recognize the impact our built environments have on our mental, physical and emotional wellbeing. As architects and designers, taking this into consideration when designing new spaces is important to us, because #mentalhealthmatters [Slides 1-2] Center for Anxiety | JZA+D worked with The Center for Anxiety, a mental health practice with multiple locations in NYC and Boston, to convert the second floor of 16 Chambers Street into their new Princeton office. New windows were added to the structure to provide sensory sensitive spaces for clients, and elements of wood and plantings were added to soften the spaces. To attenuate sound issues, the office’s vaulted ceilings were left open in the waiting area, but were lowered over the counseling rooms to create a more intimate environment [Slides 3-4] JAG-ONE Physical Therapy | Looking to open a new downtown Princeton location, JZA+D assisted JAG-ONE into converting a former bank building on Chambers Street into a new physical therapy treatment center. JZA+D optimized the space for natural daylight through renovation of existing skylights and windows to enhance the treatment center's restorative atmosphere. [Slides 5-6] 90 Nassau Office Space | With a primarily remote-based staff, this digital solutions consultant company wanted to renovate the space for meetings with clients. JZA+D created an open office plan for a light and airy feel, utilizing organic curves and glass panels, adding in small huddle rooms, and inserting a green wall in the lobby. #mentalhealthawarenessmonth #architecture #healthcare #workplacedesign
