Yesterday was my 8th "Gartnerversary", and in celebration and reflection of this time, sharing my top 8 reasons why I love where I work.
#1: Colleagues becoming friends for life - Nearly all of my friends post-college have come from meeting at Gartner. Whether we’re working together today or haven’t worked together in years, these colleagues turned friends have one thing in common - passion and zest for being the best versions of themselves, and helping pull their friends up with them.
#2: Culture of Continuous Learning - The joke internally at Gartner is “change is constant,” and while that could be perceived as a negative from an outside perspective, I love that every day I am challenged to learn, grow, and evolve.
#3: People First - Gartner continually invests in their people. Our benefits get better and more expansive every single year that I’ve been here.
#4: Health > Results - This year I have experienced countless health challenges related to #BRCA2 (see previous posts if you want to learn more) and Gartner not only has such strong health benefits that the financial impacts of 4 surgeries have been personally minimal, but I also had such an incredible support structure at work that I was able to take multiple LOAs and pick up right where I left off, no pressure!
#5: Access to World-Class Research - I can’t tell you how often I start my day with a Gartner podcast, webinar, or white paper. The wealth of information I have access as a Gartner associate have made a monumental impact on my professional development and career.
#6: Gartner Symposium and Client Travel - I’ve had the opportunity to go to Gartner Symposium four times, and each time I have been legitimately blown away and filled with passion about our live events. If you haven’t been to Symposium, you are missing out. I’ve also had the opportunity to visit my clients in person across the U.S. multiple times over the years, and have had such amazing experiences each time.
#7: Gartner Off-sites and Fun - Gartner invests in making work fun. Whether it is budget for EOY parties, team-building, recognition, field days, etc., I have never been at a company that consistently invests in fun regardless of economic performance.
#8: Grow with Gartner - The sky is literally the limit at Gartner when it comes to IDP, professional development and growth opportunities. I’ve been privileged to experience multiple promotions in my 8-year tenure, and each one has come with not only a lot of hard work personally, but intensive and strategic investment into my development by senior leaders (looking at you Brynne Koehmstedt, Melissa Hopson and Jennifer Straley).
Overall, I have grown so much as an individual, professional, and leader in my 8 years at Gartner, and I’m looking forward to continuing my journey. If you want to know more or are considering what a future at Gartner could look like for you, send me a DM!
