I had two great days in Vegas at DealMax. Across a few dozen discussions, some very clear trends in private equity: 1) M&A volume is up, but not remarkably so. Quality is debatable. Optimism for a robust 2H of M&A activity is waning. 2) Some bright spots in carveouts and take-privates, which is consistent with some of what we're seeing too. 3) Anecdotal, but I heard several stories of "old and cold" deals being resurrected from 18+ month ago. 4) Portfolio company activity is dominating mindshare; add-ons, liability management, amendments, etc. 5) Sorry to sound like a broken record, but continued inquiries surrounding the market for dividend recap as sponsors are focused on returning capital to LPs. #privateequity #privatecredit
