I will be the rapporteur for the discussion surrounding the topic on #Sustainable and #Resilient Land use and Transportation System Design. It is critical to extend the discussion on decarbonisation to all the elements that affect or interact with transport systems, including the (still) much needed modal shift to public transport and more active travel in cities, accessible and safe urban environments that contribute towards resilient and more #livable places, integrated land use and transport #planning to reduce the need to travel, and others. 🔔 From October 5th to 6th, 2023, the annual #ECEMP conference took place online, discussing the overarching theme “Net Zero, intermediate targets, and sectoral decarbonisation facing geopolitical and macroeconomic challenges”. The conference agenda was split into two parts: 🔹 Day 1: “Mid-term targets towards Net Zero and sectoral challenges.” 🔹 Day 2: “Macroeconomic and geopolitical challenges and the Net Zero transition.” Over this two-day period a number of European #climate and #energymodelling researchers and teams came together to peer-reviewed digest of #modelling tools and approaches to explore #decarbonisation pathways and inform #policymaking about the design of future #energysystems. IAM COMPACT members participated in the event, chairing the session: ✔ "Multi-Model Comparisons for robust policy insights" (Chair: Dr. Alexandros Nikas) and presenting two papers which acknowledged our project: ✔ B. VdA participates in "Sustainable Living Innovators" Magda Cocco integrated the panel of speakers at the 5th edition of Sustainable Living Innovators, a development program for young people promoted by CEiiA // Centre of Engineering and Product Development, with the aim of empowering them to value knowledge and technology. This year’s programme challenged participants to answer the question: "How can space technologies help solve Earth's problems?". To this end, the program was divided into four thematic areas: "New Space: Challenges and Opportunities", "Development Methodologies and Teamwork", "Engineering and Product Development" and "Application of Space Technology". Magda Cocco was one of the speakers in the first module, in which she presented a session on "Space Regulation and Governance". In this session, Magda Cocco proposed a reflection on the major challenges of space governance and regulation.
