And Walmart Deals Holiday Kickoff struggled to get off the ground with a 4% drop on its first day. In addition to Independence Day, Thursday was the 40th anniversary of the founding of Amazon. Pivot after pivot, slowly growing, they made an impact. Purchases on the platform represent $8 out of every $100 spent in the U.S. retail sector overall and market share is projected to double by 2026. (ref: Capital One Shopping) What will MLS's path look like over the next set of years? Are there lessons from the way they choose their next market? Or the way they optimize operations? Prime Big Deal Days is officially over and we wanted to give you an early read on overarching trends from Day 1 of Amazon’s fall deal event. • Global media sales increased 27% year over year, with the largest regional spikes coming from EU5 (84% YoY) and Canada (114% YoY). • Consumers appeared to be ready to jump on their holiday shopping early, with conversion rates increasing 9% year over, and orders increasing 33%. • Traffic increased year over year with impressions and clicks up more than 20%, and CPCs increasing 9% due to increased media competition and auction density. • The largest traffic spikes came in the 7-10 AM local time range with CPCs remaining elevated and hitting their peak in the evening hours.
