TOPPAN Holdings, has announced its support for the final recommendations launched by the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures in September 2023 and has completed TNFD Early Adopter registration on the TNFD website as an organization aiming to drive disclosure in line with the recommendations. TOPPAN Holdings will also participate in the TNFD Forum, an international organization established as a platform for discussion between corporations and financial institutions that support the recommendations. Following the Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), the TNFD has been launched to drive appropriate assessment of risks and opportunities related to natural capital and biodiversity. By encouraging financial institutions and corporations to disclose related information, the TNFD is driving the establishment of a disclosure framework for nature-related risks in order to shift financial flows toward nature-positive outcomes, with a global goal of halting and reversing biodiversity loss by 2030. New initiative to standardise ecosystem condition measurement & accounting! As illustrated by the fact that the TNFD’s core disclosure metric on ecosystem condition is a placeholder metric, consensus has so far lacked on measurement & metrics. Work on a new Protocol will be launched in June to provide consensus on this key aspects of biodiversity recognised by all key biodiversity frameworks.   📅 [SAVE THE DATE] Ecosystem Condition Protocol announcement webinar – 19 June 2024, 16:00-17:00 CET The #EcosystemCondition (EC) Protocol development is being launched in response to a recognized need from corporates for detailed and clear guidance on ecosystem condition measurement and accounting, taking up available general guidelines & recommendations and pushing them further. Similar to the GHG Protocol but for ecosystem condition, the EC Protocol will provide key guidance to corporates to easily report against the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD)’s core disclosure metric C5.0 on ecosystem condition, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)’s Disclosure 101-7 "Changes to the state of biodiversity or the #CSRD ’s disclosure requirement E4-5 paragraph 41b on “impact metrics related to biodiversity and ecosystems change” for example. How to measure the impact of your firm on the state of ecosystems? What metrics are appropriate and fit the requirements of key disclosure frameworks and regulations? How to delineate responsibilities in your value chain and within a landscape? The EC Protocol will ensure that robust approaches are used to measure and account for #impacts. It will ensure the emergence of a level playing field and enable frontrunners to disclose with confidence, including for their positive impacts on ecosystem condition. The Protocol will be built in close collaboration with existing key initiatives and frameworks, providing the consensus and guidance required to measure and account for ecosystem condition, without duplicating existing and ongoing work. The webinar will focus on: - The needs the EC Protocol would fill, - The anticipated governance around the EC Protocol, - The framing and key directions of the Protocol, and - Getting your first impressions on the Protocol’s preliminary outline and objectives! Congratulations to the 320 #pioneers who have committed to apply the recommendations of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), announced at World Economic Forum today! 👏 TNFD adopters must now select the right set of #tools to implement them from an ever-growing landscape of resources. But how to choose the right tools for the job?   In our new blog, Rebekah Church and I offer our view on tools and resources, and we highlight those that adopters can turn to initially, and which offer a good foundation. We also highlight the WWF Risk Filter Suite's newly released #technical #guidance, which provides insights in how the tool can support TNFD assessments and disclosure. The more effective #assessment and #disclosure become, the better nature-related impacts and risks can be managed, and the more opportunities can be identified and taken, while enhancing reputation, credibility and contributions towards nature-positive. 🌱 What tools other resource offer adopters a strong starting point?
