Remember JWalk Chart Tools from 20+ years ago? Written by John "Mr Spreadsheet" Walkenbach, it enabled numerous actions with charts that native Excel didn't provide. Well, Excel has evolved, and some of these actions are now available in native Excel: custom data labels from the worksheet, setting the chart size, and copying the chart as a picture. But Chart Tools had a cool Chart Report feature that is still lacking, and it also allowed bulk exporting of charts as image files. Unfortunately, JWalk's original utility doesn't support newer versions of Excel, and it's no longer available for download from any reputable source. But I asked Mr Walkenbach for permission to revise it for modern Excel, and he agreed. I took out the features that modern Excel has made redundant, and hitched it up to a few buttons on the Chart Design ribbon. And I've made it available for free. This is awesome. Jwalk CT was one of my all time fav add-ins. Can you get him to also come to LinkedIn? The LI Excel world would be that bit more exciting with him in it.
Satisfied customer of PUP v7 here :-)
Awesome! Bringing back some fond memories here. JWalk's classic book 'Power Programming w/ VBA' (still on my shelf) fueled my passsion for Excel and automating my workflows in my first job out of undergrad. What a thoughtful ode to an Excel legend - thanks Jon!
Jon Peltier - is Jon Walkenbach updating the Excel Bible? It was great but I haven't seen him updating it in the past few years.
I can't imagine anyone better to revitalize this classic.. Thanks Jon.
Jwalk books had a huge impact at the beginning of my professional career. It was inspiring to see you guys using Excel in the same way a virtuoso plays a piano.
I learned a lot from JWalk’s tools and still use the knowledge as a fall-back whe all else fails (in Excel)
Jon - when I immediately read your blurb, I said "Ok this book is going to be wicked, let's go deep!"
Mr JW is one of the reasons I’m so passionate about Excel
Microsoft EXCEL and VBA Expert. Lethal lefty on the Tennis Court!
