🔸 I first learned this practice from my friend Clint Hurdle during my eight seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates. At the beginning of each season he would lead, share, & challenge all of us to join him & write down ONE WORD on a baseball. During the season coaches & staff would display their ball in their locker, desk, etc.
🔸 It grew character. It built culture. It created camaraderie.
🔸 The idea is simple: Choose one word to guide your passion, purpose & precision this year.
🔸 We continue this practice as a family & our Vanguard XXI Team, adding two extra steps of a phrase & how we will apply it with our heart, head & hands. Yes, even my children have been doing it since elementary school. It is powerful for them as well.

🔸 For me, my one word is FOCUS and my one phrase is "Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me." - Philippians 3:12.
