Product Marketing as a Person

July 1st was my last day at Munch. It has been one of the most impactful career choices I’ve ever made, and I damn near missed it. When Yam Regev introduced me to Oren, I was still figuring out how to hack #ProductMarketing as a Service, and this seemed a bit too “all around marketing” for what I thought I wanted to do at them time. I was floored by the product and it's maturity, but pretty sure I said quite explicitly that I’m not the right guy for the job. But when I expressed this to Yam, he told me “whatever comes out of this, it’s going to expand your orbit as a marketer”. And boy, did it expand. As I said here once, the hands-on stuff I got to on at Munch were mostly areas I’ve only ever watched others perform, and I was amazed by how much has been absorbed by osmosis. There were the things I was relatively fluent in - messaging, email marketing, website and landing pages, product visuals. There were areas that were new but comfortable - brand, content, marketing funnels, influencer marketing. And there was the great unknown - PPC, SEO, affiliates, PLS, RevOps and beyond. 18 months later, have dabbled in all of the above and more, succeeded beyond expectations with some and failed miserably in others, was given carte blanche to experiment and assistance when I was struggling. We’ve seen ourselves assume category leadership, defending it in an ever reddening ocean of subpar products, securing seed round and pushing the rock up the hill towards more and more milestones. Oh yeah, and there was that pesky thing that started in October that really challenged our ability to keep our eyes on the ball, which in true Israeli fashion - we more than did. Ultimately, this has been my first ever rodeo of this kind, being literally the first marketer in a company that’s riding the peak of a technological wave, and it certainly feels like I’m orbiting a much larger star now. So here’s to the beautiful Munch-keteers, who will keep on steering this spaceship to new altitudes. They're building something beautiful, innovative and practical, and I'm so grateful to have been a part of the journey. Oren Kandel, Peter Naftaliev, Moshe Mor, Omri Dolev, Matan Roisman, Lior kerbis, Orr Eilam, Yonatan Synytskyi , Taly Ovadia, Diana Chalem, Noam Reiner, Anastasia Ledvich, Yana Sandovsky, Omri Drabski🎗️, Itai E., Mikey Nagler. And some very honorable mentions who were there along for the ride in various capacities and made it a thrill - Regev Gur 🗽 Michal Pescovsky Maya Segal Elior Siegelwachs Ohad Gadassi🎗️Eyal Bason Shahaf Seginer Yahly Bar-Lev Pasha Kagan Netanya Cimone Kyla Schweitzer And where am I headed next you ask? More on that to come, for now let’s say that I can’t wait to swap the hellish Israeli summer to months upon months of rainy skies 💂♀️
