Today is a day to drive acceptance of autism and more broadly neurodiversity. Being truly represented and having access to work are some of the indicators to watch to measure progress. Video games have its part to play in terms of representation as well as in terms of employment. Discover our journey of “Embracing individuality” through the testimonies of Lauren, Simon, Megan and David in this Ubisoft blog post. A big shout out to all my colleagues involved in this work. Neuro-inclusion is the future of work. #autismAwarenessDay #neurodivertyatwork #neuroinclusion #neurodiversity
Today, for #AutismAwarenessDay, we’re shining a spotlight on the contributions of our neurodiverse employees and the representation of autistic characters in our games. In Watch Dogs 2 you’ll meet Josh, whose unique perspective enriches his team, Birdie in The Division 2, a technical genius, and Jäger in Rainbow Six Siege, known for his dedication and innovative solutions. These characters add to the player experience, underscoring the importance of inclusion and understanding. But beyond our games, our teams help us all level up too. Read on and meet Lauren Stone, Simon Ducharme, Megan Hobby, and David, team members from around the world, who share how their experience with autism influences their workplace life. 👉 https://lnkd.in/exp4rU5t

🌟 Empowering Socially Isolated Young People Through Gaming 🌟 Have you ever witnessed the transformative power of gaming? I first watched this heartwarming BBC Newsround video with a group of young roleplaying game fans. To say it was impactful was an understatement. It beautifully highlights the impact of Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) on a group of young people with autism. It's a testament to the inclusive and supportive nature of role-playing games and made my games group feel seen. Autism or not, gaming provides a space where individuals can truly be themselves, connect with others, and embark on epic adventures together. At Epic Empathy Games, I'm passionate about harnessing the power of immersive role-playing experiences to empower young people, especially those who may feel socially isolated or unseen. Our online gaming groups offer a safe and supportive environment where every child can thrive and be celebrated for who they are. 🌈 If you believe your young person could benefit from joining our gaming community, whether to boost their social skills, foster empathy, or simply have fun, I invite you to reach out and connect. Together, let's unlock the magic of gaming and create unforgettable adventures! 🚀 Feel free to drop me a message to learn more and start your child's journey towards empowerment today. #EmpathyThroughGaming #EpicEmpathyGames #PassionateAboutPlay #InclusiveGaming #TransformativeGaming #ConnectAndThrive https://lnkd.in/eukSrXNR

IRL programming for your community can take a lot of work and you may not get the "scale" you get with other types of programming, but there's no better way to create community connections than getting people to interact in meaningful ways through in-person events. No doubt about it, these events are tough to pull off and create value, but when you do it right, it's awesome to see the results. Lisi, Chen, and I talk a little bit about how have a little more intention and patience can help you craft better community experiences.

This is remarkable in so many ways!
"Del and Williams’ mother, Irena Politano, allowed their son’s instincts and high-speed dreams to dictate their navigational process. They relied on resources from organizations like Autism Speaks for guidance, but said that ultimately, Williams guided Del and his wife through the journey as much as they directed their son." https://okt.to/k4sHKI
