Defying Elon Musk: How AI and Human Collaboration Could Create More Jobs, Not Fewer 🚀
🔍 We're excited to share our latest research published in Nature Human Behavior, titled: "Creativity in the Age of Generative AI." In this paper, a team of researchers, Janet Rafner, Roger Beaty, James Kaufman, Todd Lubart, and Jacob Sherson explores the relationship between artificial intelligence and creativity.
You may have heard concerns about AI stealing jobs; however, our research offers a different perspective. We focus on something called 'co-creativity' – how humans and AI can work together creatively. Instead of seeing AI as a threat to jobs, we see it as a partner in innovation.
💬 Prof. Jacob Sherson, corresponding author on the paper, says: "Undoubtedly, autonomous AI will continue to impress us with its advancements. But when these technologies are utilized by individuals with business acumen, they unlock unlimited opportunities for innovation. Therefore, I believe that rather than facing a job shortage, we are on the brink of an era abundant in new employment possibilities.”
Our paper argues for an approach that puts people at the center of AI development. We believe AI should be a tool that assists people in their work, rather than something that takes over. This approach isn't just more efficient but also respects the unique abilities of human creativity. 👥
💬 Dr. Janet Rafner, the first author of the paper, highlights the need for collaboration across different fields: "Most research on how humans and AI can be creative together comes from the world of computer science. We also need insights from psychology to fully understand creativity."
We call for cooperation between different areas of expertise to build AI systems that are both advanced and ethical. This means studying how AI affects different professions, improving AI systems that work with text, and understanding how AI impacts how we learn.
We're committed to including people directly in developing AI tools for their workplaces. It's not just about doing what's ethically right – it's about making the best choice for the future.🌐
