The new financial year is just around the corner and, for agencies launching new digital services from 1 July, the Australian Government's Digital Service Standard. Its 10, outcomes-based criteria help government agencies to design and deliver digital services in an accessible, consistent and reliable way. The current version, launched by the Digital Transformation Agency in November 2023, made significant updates to better encompass the entire lifecycle of a digital service and move away from prescriptiveness to reflect the current state of government's digital maturity. It’s been over a year since the UK Government launched its Digital Strategy in June 2022, with ministers heralding the policy as a “vision for harnessing digital transformation and building a more inclusive, competitive and innovative digital economy”. This new report explores the roles and rationales behind digitalisation as part of the Digital Strategy's 'Digital Foundations' - including the application of document scanning - from the unique perspective of IT decision makers across central and local government administrations. "The success of the Digital Foundations must be built from the group up, not only within government but across all sectors. As such, IT leaders must take a comprehensive view on the digital processes that drive all workforce activity within their organisations", comments Nicola Williams.
