Visual Storyteller | I help DTC brands nail high-performance ad creative – without sacrificing brand.
Why I ❤️ KLM Royal Dutch Airlines ✈️ and what we can learn 🧐from them --> In comparison to other (cheaper) airlines: – your trolley and your handbag are always included in even the most basic fare – you get complimentary drinks and a snack, even on a 1,5hr stretch – the seats feature flexible headrests, so you don't roll onto your neighbours shoulder – you'll never have to do the "carry-on fit test" (iykyk) I believe these small gestures go a long way. So, what can I and anybody else leading a creative ad agency learn from KLM? ❌ Avoid nasty surprises (hidden add-on fees – bleugh) ❌ Don't try to compete on pricing / being the cheapest 🤩 Instead, consider what "pleasant" extras can you provide to retain loyalty I aspire for CaroCara to be the KLM to the Ryanair agencies out there. Are you team Ryanair or team KLM? – – – #digitalmarketingagency #ugc #service #facebookads #tiktok

I fly a lot with 4-5 major airlines for work and leisure but over the past weekend was my first time flying with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines via AMS Royal Schiphol Group in about 12 years. I have to say, I was really impressed. Here are 10 key reasons why: 1. The price I paid was good value compared with the other direct and indirect options; 2. I received pre-departure emails for all four flights offering me discounted “business class” upgrades. I even received one promo email as I arrived in Schiphol to await my second flight, telling me that the upgrade offer was still available; 3. All four flights on the outbound and return sectors were more or less on time. The delays were all less than 15 mins and flight deck crews were very informative on reasons why and importance of making up time; 4. Three of the four flights were onboard their very new Embraer 195-E2s. A very nice 2-2 arrangement hard product for short European flights. The onboard service was also very good for a short haul flight. The crew communicated well and smiled. Free food and drink including decent quality, large sandwiches and free soft and alcoholic drinks were offered (much better catering offering than majority of competitors); 5. The slight delays (even 5 mins) were swiftly communicated via KLM’s mobile app notifications and by SMS with an apology; 6. Short connection gate numbers were read out by onboard crew before we landed in AMS, with a reassuring message that other gate staff knew passengers were coming off our flight; 7. Soon after each flight, I received an email from KLM asking me to provide rapid feedback on the flight recently completed; 8. Relatively full flights so KLM sent mobile app notifications and SMS messages a day in advance offering passengers the option to check-in larger hand luggage for no extra cost; 9. Security and immigration at AMS was fast and efficient; 10. The free airport WiFi was very easy to connect to and actually worked very well (many airports make users share lots of personal data to access free WiFi or it simply doesn’t work well due to access issues or low bandwidth). So from searching/booking to landing back home, this was the best all-round CX experience from an airline in many years using a combination of web, mobile app, SMS and email and crucially, great, well trained and motivated employees! And most tellingly, I’m not even on KLM’s “radar” when it comes to loyalty. I’m not a member of Flying Blue or any partner airline FFP but I might just join now! Conversely, I am gold and silver status with other major airlines (one for 20 years) and they are unable to do most of what KLM did at the weekend.

A glimpse behind the scenes: My insightful visit to the KLM Operations Control Center In the midst of the COVID-19 period, I found myself in a unique position – serving behind the scenes at the Operations Control Center (OCC) at Transavia. Spending nearly a year working as an Operations Controller was an eye-opening experience. It provided me with an invaluable understanding of running an airline, highlighting the depth of teamwork and coordination involved in ensuring a smooth operation. Working at the OCC offered me a backstage pass to the complexities of the aviation industry. Understanding the intricacies of flight scheduling, the importance of timely communication, and adjusting to ever-changing and unforeseen circumstances sharpened my abilities as an airline pilot. This experience not only deepened my professional expertise but also instilled a profound appreciation for the multitude of roles that contribute to the seamless functioning of an airline's operation. Last week, I had the privilege of visiting KLM's Operations Control Center. Stepping into the hub of KLM's operations was like immersing myself in the heartbeat of the airline. Whilst is was almost like a trip down memory lane due to my own experience, witnessing the advanced technologies, real-time decision-making, teamwork and the synergy between various departments was inspiring. A key theme runs throughout my experiences – the essential importance of teamwork. Each individual's contribution is vital and of utmost significance. The spirit of collaboration, shared sense of purpose, dedication, and mutual respect for one another's skills underscore the essence of aviation – a collective effort toward safe, efficient, and reliable air travel. As I continue my personal journey of learning and growth I am grateful for the perspectives gained and connections made so far. In my experience exploring different departments within one’s organization or participating in diverse roles not only broadens individual viewpoints but also reinforces the unity of an organization, emphasizing the significance of collaboration in achieving shared goals and fostering a harmonious workplace culture. #teamwork #collaboration #decisionmaking #sharedgoals #communication #aviation #workplace #companyculture #exploring #learning #mutualrespect #synergy #values #safety #efficiency #crewresourcemanagement #humanfactors #resilience #teameffort

📣 “What? You work in IT & in Rock ‘n Roll? But how? That are 2 completely different worlds?!” Must be the remark I get the most about my professional life. 🤝 In fact, the music industry is the most agile environment I know and thus the way to approach these projects is quite similar to the way I approach my IT projects. There is a constant flow of new requests coming in from both client and artist. Requirements change all the time and bugs popup regularly. Releases need to happen frequently, there are some hard deadlines in place and budgets need to be tracked. 💡Since 2 years I try to run my music industry projects as an IT project with a scrumboard, including a backlog and roadmap. This allows me to keep track of everything and keep some kind of peace of mind. 📸 Picture of our daily Artist Team standup in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦. Project for 555 Live Experience . 🧘🏼♂️ Last but not least: the change of environment between these 2 worlds keeps me sharp and challenged in both (& sane 😅) Certified Scrum Product Owner - Artist & Stage Manager
