Be sure to get the Copy & Pics right...Navy = Sailors and don't show another branch or country's uniforms or equipment (don't be like the FL Congressman who posted Russian ships a few years ago...just saying) 2. Have a discount for ALL military community members (active duty, reserves, veterans AND their spouses)...then be sure to identify those customers for future engagement (aka re-targeting) 3. Veteran Mythbusters- While speaking to companies about hiring veterans, I've encountered numerous myths about military veterans in the workplace. One such myth is the belief that veterans are inherently foul-mouthed and noisy. It's time to dispel these stereotypes and shed light on the reality of "military bearing" and how it shapes veterans into valuable employees. Military bearing, a cornerstone of military training, instills discipline, respect, and professionalism. It's about maintaining a calm and composed demeanor. Military bearing is the demonstration of confidence, discipline, enthusiasm, and humility in everyday life while on or off duty. Soldiers, and by extension, #veterans, never lose their military bearing just because they are off duty. I made a comment to my eldest today when he was complaining to embrace the Suck which got us into a conversation about what it means. *Tactical Fun Fact Friday* -WWII U.S. Navy Underwater Demolition Teams were the first commandos to be called "Operators"- This now common term was originally coined in 1943 because Navy Demolitioneers/Frogmen went on "Operations" not "Missions" thus making them “Operators” not “Missionators. Having evolved from the UDTs, Navy Sea-Air-Land Teams in Vietnam adopted the odd moniker, and prior to 9-11 were the only unit in the world to use this now prestigious title. After 9-11... the term was poached by just about everyone in the military not assigned to a basic infantry unit. Civilians of all professions jumped on the “Operator” bandwagon soon after, and is now essentially associated with anyone who carries a gun for a living. If a Team Guy asked anyone in or out of the military prior to September 11, 2001 what an Operator was, they’d all say “a woman who works for the phone company”. Even today, most civilians are like “SEAL Operator”, WTH is that? And to think, thousands of dudes worldwide claim to be “Operators”, and they themselves have no idea what it actually means or it’s WW2 Nav-Spec-War origins. Team Guys have long been trendsetters, but none of us could have foreseen “Operator” becoming mainstream Pop Culture slang. The definition of an "Operator" according to the old school UDT/SEAL Glossary: A true Operator can surreptitiously slip in and out of enemy territory and your girlfriend's apartment with equal ease.
