I reflect a lot on how alcohol has played such a significant part of my recruitment career. I’ve a lot coulda, woulda, shoulda thoughts. Changing my relationship with it, changed me, my only regret…I wish I’d done it two decades ago. The convo about booze and business across the industry is getting louder. Check out the TEAM Networks Well-being series, midday today, they’ll be discussing a load of stuff around this super important topic. #GetTalking

Andy Dunne thank you for creating this conversation & I love that it is open to everyone, some stuff needs to be shared right!
Jo, it's not just recruitment. I remember being an alcoholic back in the early 2000s while working in a school. I used to drink two bottles of wine every day, and no one knew. My shakes were so bad that I had to eat with my mouth close to the plate if I hadn't had a drink (very embarrassing in the school canteen). The first five years of running my own recruitment company were spent in pubs and bars after work, but now we rarely go to one. I never really wanted to give up alcohol because it made me feel more comfortable in social situations a common thing for ADHDers. Nowadays, I’m lucky to go weeks without drinking and only have a drink occasionally at events or social gatherings. While I think I'd struggle to give it up completely, I'm grateful that it's at a more manageable level now. Thank God for my wife and two children; without them, I'd probably be in a much worse place. Thanks for sharing about the TEAM Networks Well-being series. It's great to see the conversation about alcohol and business getting the attention it deserves. Well done Andy Dunne for highlighting this and I still want my glass of wine at the annual team conference!
If I could tell my younger self one thing. It would “you are enough, sober” I could not agree with this post any more. Over six years dry and thriving in every element of living. Extending my joy boundary in this journey of life. 🙏🏽💜
