Yesterday I attended The Knowledge Shop’s fundraising and co-working event featuring Kat and Katie from Power To Pitch. I’ve mentioned this before, but the fundraising journey is super hard and incredibly lonely. Most investors would rather be “polite” than give actionable feedback, meaning that it’s hard to know if you’re on the right track or you need to overhaul your pitch entirely to break through. At least that was my experience before taking Power to Pitch. I filmed a testimonial about my experience for the Power to Pitch website because it truly transformed my experience presenting Cheeky Cocktails to investors. Since taking the program I’ve continued to receive compliments from investors about the comprehensiveness and strength of my pitch. I’ve had several say “what you covered in seven minutes is normally what takes an hour,” and one said with a smile, “you can always tell when someone has a VC background or they invested in pitch coaching… it makes a huge difference.” Since taking Power to Pitch I brought in eight new investors and am in conversation with lots more. There’s nothing worse than having a co-founder you don’t align with. You’re essentially married, so you don’t want to choose the completely wrong person. Constantly disagreeing on factors such as company vision, how much money you need to raise, who should be leading pitches - the list goes on 🤦♂️ There’s just too much that can go wrong, so you NEED to take time and really get to know them as a person before going into business with them. Here are 3️⃣ things you need to align on with your co-founder: 🏃Effort - ‘hard work’ may mean different things to you both! 💸 Money - Do you both want to raise the same amount? Do you share the same revenue goals? 🔎 Focus - Are they solely focused on the business or do they have side projects? So think about how stifling a poor relationship with your co-founder/co-founding team would be to your business. It could end up failing completely. TAKE. YOUR.
