“After 29 years in prison, I’m finally one step closer to my dream”, James shared on our Good News channel this morning. This 4th of July, he’s celebrating getting his CDL-A permit and the chance to attend trucking school next month. As we head into the long weekend, we’re celebrating so many things - freedom, our country, honoring the incredible public servants who have made freedom possible (including the veterans 🎖 and firefighters 👨🚒 🚒 on FreeWorld’s team!), and even simple time with family over a BBQ 🍔 or fireworks. 🎆 But alongside our celebrations, we are soberly remembering those who remain trapped in a cycle of poverty and recidivism. Right now, there are 1.2M Americans who are incarcerated, dreaming of the “Free World.” Some are paying their debt to society, some are wrongfully incarcerated, and some feel stuck, sure to re-offend for lack of better options when they are released. In between the parties and celebrations, let’s take a moment this weekend to imagine a more just justice system where real second chances happen, living-wage jobs are the norm, and the 3 million Americans who are ready and able to work can find employment that will allow them to care of themselves and their families. #freedom #FreeWorld #formerlyincarcerated #secondchancehiring

Here are some shocking facts: It is estimated that between 18,000 and 20,000 people are trafficked into the United States every year. This makes it a significant and persistent problem. The United States recognizes two primary forms of human trafficking: forced labor and sex trafficking. Both forms involve using force, fraud, or coercion to exploit individuals. On average, 14,500 people are trafficked into forced labor each year in the U.S., with the majority being women and children. Human trafficking is the second-largest and fastest-growing criminal industry in the world, second only to drug trafficking. Human trafficking is a global issue that affects every country, including the United States, making it a significant international and domestic problem. A common myth is that trafficking only involves illegal immigrants, but U.S. citizens, especially vulnerable populations like runaways and homeless youth, are also frequently trafficked. Globally, an estimated 50 million people were living in modern slavery on any given day in 2021. This means nearly one in every 150 people worldwide is in some form of modern slavery. Although slavery today may look different from the historical slavery of the Transatlantic slave trade, it still involves severe exploitation and deprivation of freedom. #nonprofit. #humantrafficking #giving #frederickthegreattgives

If you want me to vote, try having elections that are democratic other than in name only. I only believe in voting in real democracies. Not fake ones that are auctioned off to billionaires. That’s all this is, and that’s why they don’t get my vote. I’m very calmly going to plainly state the truth about the entire house of cards and move on with my day. A lot of you are about to learn how to fight for the first time in your lives. You are going to be taught by the most brutal and battle hardened, neglected antifascist fighters from questionable backgrounds. 1 in 4 of those homeless people you are locking up and harassing are US military veterans. I wish you the best. Well and truly. Be careful who you deny rights to this year, America. Be careful who you speak down to and who you alienate. When I say “housing for all” that doesn’t mean “housing for all people— except veterans” So get outta your own way. And be careful who you pick a fight with. Those homeless people aren’t bums. 70% of this country’s workforce is 1-2 missed paychecks away from homelessness. We aren’t as divided as we think we are when we stop rooting for cults and start rooting for good ideas. Focus on the good ideas. Ignore the cults. Power isn’t built by voting. 1 in 4 homeless people are veterans. Homeless people are being exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold during a climate emergency. The rate of homelessness is growing. The cost of social housing is dwarfed by the cost of criminalizing homelessness. The value proposition for criminalizing homelessness is forced labor in the prison system. Connect the dots our overlords don’t want you to connect. 1 in 4 of those people currently being harassed and mass incarcerated all over America for sleeping in the streets has a military background. And yall claim we can’t unite to win a second revolution and prevent a civil war? Get serious and upgrade your politics. Happy America day or whatever. #Antifascism #July4th #CivilResistance

Neurodivergent Humanitarian. 🌻🌞 intentionally loving strangers! Genocide is wrong. Free Palestine Global Liberation is here. CSA survivor
How many homeless veterans do you know? Why are resources for veterans dependent on sobriety or being in AA/NA? Veterans deserve housing regardless of their sobriety. All humans do. It’s a shame that our government treats the veterans who are mentally damaged by what they did overseas like trash. Meanwhile the ones who have no conscientious objections to being monsters get hundreds of thousands of dollars and get to be mercenaries going around being assassins for pay ☠️. Why is that allowed to be a thing again? Harm reduction saves lives. People in prison are humans and being convicted of a crime doesn’t erase their INALIENABLE RIGHTS. The number of humans who are okay with incarcerated people being literally tortured is devastatingly high. When you dehumanize others you dehumanize yourself. There’s no outrunning the consequences of selling your soul. There’s no amount of money that would allow you to buy your way out of the consequences of ignoring human suffering for profits. 🥴 As a humanity we must do better. Decolonization now. Give indigenous people their land back and give them back control of their land. It’s the only way to repair the atrocities of the past (and present). Only through making meaningful apology and a commitment to repairing the damage can we truly move forward. Colonizers are scared the Indigenous people will enslave them in return for their liberation - and history has proven those fears to be false. In order to abolish slavery we must abolish prisons. Slavery is not acceptable in any civilized society. Oppression is not acceptable in any civilized society.

#Disability It's not a bad word. Nor is it anything to be ashamed of. To lay guilt at the disabled person, is abhorrent. If anyone should be ashamed, it's the society we live in where people make comments full of ableism & hatred. This post was inspired by Sandra Bentley Just read some of the comments to this Daily Mail News piece, in Sandra's original post. I'd like Daily Mail to interview me, because the truth about 'disability fraud' aka 'scroungers' regarding a 'cost to taxpayers' is: 0.2% Of Personal Independence Payments 1.5% Of Employment and Support Allowance 0.5% Disability Living Allowance It took me 1 minute to find these official Govt figures! Here: https://lnkd.in/es83Frjj Here's the shocking truth: https://lnkd.in/ehUiXFtn 😭 Disabled people are dying, as the Govt spends more trying to take the peanuts benefits away from them! The largest % of 'tax payers money' goes to State Pension. Yet, do we hear anything about how pensioners are 'feckless scroungers' ? No! Because they're not! Just as we don't choose to be disabled, they don't choose to be old. Thoughts anyone?

Someone please educate this man - there are so many people with a disability who can work, want to work and have families and pay tax You are publicly shaming everyone with a disability - and the public won’t see me as a working wheelchair person they will in your words see a person who is Feckless and scrounging !! Shame on you https://lnkd.in/euVydiG9

You use words like liberty and freedom, and claim to bleed red, white and blue. Are you sure you’re not a fool? 𝑳𝒊𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒚 is the state of being free from oppressive restrictions or control imposed by authority on one’s way of life, behaviour, or political views, while 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒐𝒎 is the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants. Are you at “liberty” to live your way of life? Are you able to act, speak, or think as you want? If you answered yes to both questions, than operant conditioning has served well to beat you into submission. The history of free men creating a sovereign nation, replaced by a narrative of oppression, hate and evil. The prosperity to lift millions out of poverty canceled out because a small percentage are left behind. Meanwhile those same “poor” collect welfare checks while updating their social media profiles and committing crimes in the name of victimhood, while real victims avoid shelters and services for fear the very men who hurt them have found a way into their last remaining “safe space”. Homelessness and veteran suicide are the new normal, while newly entered “migrants” are put up in holiday inns and given a living wage. Every other country allowed a secure border, with our money of course. But what money, we have none, but wait, November is around the corner and we’ll just 𝒗𝒐𝒕𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒓! Many are the examples and little faith do I have anything will change with this post. Except this. Choose freedom, and give them no quarter. #getonthepath

America... America has a problem. Despite being a country built on the premise of being the land of the free, we have the highest incarceration rate in the world with nearly two million people behind bars at any given time. This $80 billion dollar industry, where each prisoner costs $100k to $500k to keep in glorified dungeons, causes more harm than positive change. These people leave bitter, not better, and 77% of formerly incarcerated people are rearrested in 5 years. This system is set up to waste money and people’s potential. These millions of people have the power to meaningfully #change and support their families and American society at large. When we received a $1M grant last year, we knew we wanted to give it to people with big dreams and big plans to reform the #criminaljusticesystem as we know it from something that hurts to something that heals. And this week, after months of hard work from everyone involved, we found 3 companies to share it with. Meet Unlocked Labs, JusticeText, and FreeCap Financial, Inc, three visionary startups changing the system at 3 different points: during the pre-trial process, with #education behind bars, and through the finances of everyday Americans. We hope you’re inspired by these game-changing #solutions because we know we are. Thank you to everyone who applied as well as our other finalists, Creative Acts and Just Income GNV. We believe in your power to make the world a better place and we hope going through this process reminded you of that power too.
