The 2021 Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey reveals significant insights: 📊 **Key Findings:** - **15%** of community-living Medicare beneficiaries struggled with eating solid food due to poor dental health. - **18%** suffered from complete tooth loss (edentulism), impacting their nutrition and quality of life. - Among those with disabilities, **33%** faced difficulties eating solid foods because of dental issues. - **32%** of beneficiaries earning below $25,000 annually were completely toothless. 🔍 Recent work by our amazing Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services OEDA team! Findings from the 2021 Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey shed light on #oralhealth among #Medicare beneficiaries living in the community. 📊 The data highlights two issues: In 2021, 15% of Medicare beneficiaries living in the community had trouble #eating solid food because of teeth, and 18% lost all natural #teeth. #foodismedicine Among beneficiaries with two or more disabilities, 33% had trouble eating solid food because of teeth. 32% of Medicare beneficiaries with incomes less than $25,000 per year lost all natural teeth (edentulism). #Edentulism can significantly impact nutrition, self-esteem, well-being, and overall quality of life.
