Hey, I stand by #2! There’s loads of naff workplace-based documentaries out there, why not give the world something to be both entertained and educated by? Just remember, when Mary was denied a room at the inn, Jesus was born. When Michael Scottish was denied a room… well, we don’t know what happens, because that story hasn’t been written yet. So, whether the marketing team like it or not, I will be mic-ing myself up from now on, and doing monologues in the break room. I’ve got to make sure YouTube comes down to tape this.

Coming up: HotTakes. No, not my opinion on the forthcoming general election (puke), or my 72-page PDF manual to performing a love song in a corporate setting, but actual HotTakes. You know, the Canadian start-up taking Ontario by storm, leading one impartial* observer to declare them as "the future of B2C engagement". Frankly, I think it’s a disgrace that I wasn’t the first employee spotlighted in this new ‘feature’. So I’ll do my own answers, and then you can read them first before David’s, and that way I WILL be the first. Yay me. Internal job swap: Me. Office perk: More posters of me. First Minister of Scotland: My face on banknotes. Superpower: Invisible, so I can stop getting mobbed by my adoring fans. Dream dinner party: Young me, old me, my wife, and Scott McTominay.

This film is the culmination of everything I learnt about the North American market, during my time working in the Caribbean. The whole Incentive Games idea came from the learnings I had from the nascent fantasy football products.  Want the best staff? Then you need to put them through a series of seemingly arbitrary tests. Hey, it beats an interview. Want to create a sense of occasion at corporate events? Get a lad who can do a Michael Buffer-like voice. You wouldn’t know it, but this lad has a thick Highlands accent. Genius.

What makes a great place to work? Is it a great boss, who is really funny, and loves you like his best friend? Is it a CEO who is humble enough to open up the ‘Employee of the Month’ award to other entrants, even if they never come close? Is it just a man, standing in front of a Zoom call, asking you to love him? Dunno, but this crew do – and Incentive Games is officially a ‘Great Place To Work’ for the second year running. Not sure what that says about the previous eight years… Congratulations to the team, and thank you for putting up with me, and making me feel loved almost every day.

This Father's Day, with a heavy heart (and head) from a quick trip to Germany on Friday to watch Scotland get crushed, I wanted to share a tribute to the father figure of Scottish football. Meeting Sir Alex was a brief moment outside the game, but it lit up the entire trip for me. Which, let's face it, got pretty dark quickly. A man who embodies the Scottish spirit, work ethic, and directness. I don't know how his methods would go down in today's workplace (although he seemed lovely - and very patient as we fidgeted around getting this pic), but he's definitely an inspiration. A true Scottish icon. Happy Father's Day, Sir Alex. Love, your new best mate, "Sean" (I didn't have the nerve to correct him).

If I could turn back time, if I could find a way… I don’t know if I’d change any of it. Especially not sharing a birthday with Cher. The other great thing she and I have in common? Neither of us look a day over 40 (depending on when you read this - at the time of writing, I am 40 years and 1 days old). All of which, yes, is an elaborate way to draw attention to the fact that it was my birthday yesterday. Something, clearly, my family forgot as I was presented with a pile of doughnuts instead of a cake, a “happy 50th” card, and a drawing by John Jr/Jean that presumably took them all of six seconds to compose. Perfect. My fav. wife actually said "a doughnut for a doughnut" when she presented me this "cake". We are in Malta at the moment, I can only assume birthday cakes are not a thing here.
