To ensure a seamless shift, Google has introduced a groundbreaking third-party cookie deprecation trial. While Chrome's grand plan is to bid farewell to #ThirdPartyCookies by Q3 2024, this unique program allows embedded sites and services to temporarily keep them alive until December 27, 2024. How to Make the Most of It: 1. Stay Informed: Keep yourself updated with the latest developments in the world of third-party cookies. 2. Optimize Transition Plans: Use this extra time wisely to optimize and fine-tune your website's transition strategy. 3. Enhance User Experience: Balance the need for #DataPrivacy with maintaining a top-notch #UserExperience on your site. Make sure to adjust your digital calendars – December 27, 2024, is the new deadline for this cookie transition journey! #Cookies #PrivacyMatters #GoogleUpdate #WebDevelopment

A great read from my colleauge Lucas Long: It's a high level summary of the browser APIs being introduced for measurement use cases once 3rd party cookies are deprecated. This includes: Chrome's Attribution Reporting API Chrome's Private Aggregation API Safari's Private Click Measurement This should help your team continue to prepare to change your digital marketing strategy as the industry becomes more privacy-centric. #cookielessfuture #apis #dataprivacy #googlechrome https://lnkd.in/g86kjzx9

Super excited to get this one out. I've been having a TON of thoughts swirling around in my head during the process of building Resin | An Uppercut Project. What I've come to realize is that there's a lot of work to be done by marketers to regain the trust of the greater population. But did you know that roughly 60% of users would willingly give their consent to be tracked? That tells me that people are 100% ok with giving up their privacy, but they aren't going to do it without having a substantial amount of #trust build up first. Hmmmm, I feel like I've heard this concept before.....maybe from Isaac Morehouse. So in this post, I dive into the real nitty gritty of a hypothetical new web standard I want to propose (Still learning about the process). I won't spoil the details but it's a hefty post that dives into partnerships, privacy, history, and web standards all in one. https://lnkd.in/gnpSkcHK #trust #webstandards #w3c #privacy #advertising #nearbound #marketing #sales #inbound #outbound #history #revenue #data #analytics #ecosystem Jared Fuller Vaughn Mordecai 🤝Will Taylor Aaron Howerton nearbound.com RevGenius Alexa Grabell Crossbeam Partnership Leaders Reveal

Interesting response from Google's Privacy Sandbox Snr Director of Product Management to a number of objections given to them about the sunsetting of third-party cookies in Chrome. Here are some extracts: 1. "Privacy Sandbox APIs are not intended to be direct, one-to-one replacements for all third-party cookie based use cases" 2. "capabilities that relied on third-party cookies, like audiences based on profiles of user activity across websites, will not be possible to directly replicate using the Privacy Sandbox" 3. "some industry responses to third-party cookie deprecation have been to develop new cross-site identifiers...often described as ‘privacy first’.. they may not represent meaningful improvement on third-party cookies because they still enable users to be re-identified across sites." 4. "We have committed to the CMA to ensure that the APIs do not advantage Google or give special treatment to Google products and services" 5. "Building solutions to enable a more private web requires real investment of resources, time, and energy...reducing cross-site tracking gives publishers better protections against costly first-party data leakage risks...This additional layer of data protection can create new product opportunities with first-party data" 6. "While the timeline to deprecate third-party cookies is subject to addressing any remaining competition concerns from the UK CMA, we are encouraging everyone to prepare for third party cookie deprecation in 2024."
