It's great to see the efforts being made to support caregivers of persons living with dementia (PLWD) through these initiatives. The challenges faced by caregivers of PLWD are indeed significant. Caregivers play a crucial role as the disease progresses, providing support in activities of daily living, while the burden on caregivers is significant as they often prioritize their caregiving duties over their own health, leading to health-related challenges. An interesting fact is that some model evaluations for the existing dementia care models indicated cost savings associated with delaying patient transitions to long-term care facilities. There are still areas where improvements and enhancements can be made, and initiatives like this can make a real difference for PLWD and caregivers.

The Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers has long worked to support caregivers through its evidence-based support. A past webinar from the 2018 Dementia Capable Webinar series, "Tips and Strategies for Family Caregivers of Loved Ones with Dementia," provides practical advice. Presenter Naomi L. draws on her clinical expertise working with families. She offers "if-then" strategies to address common care challenges in the pre-recorded session. For example, tips are provided on helping when a person refuses assistance or wants to live alone. Supporting long-distance care is also discussed. The almost hour-long webinar expertly condenses an abundance of hands-on strategies. It serves as a valuable resource for current and future dementia caregivers seeking to improve care routines and reduce stress. I recommend accessing this pre-recorded webinar from the Institute's respected series for those interested in gaining knowledge from experienced professionals to better support loved ones. The presenters' compilation of evidence and wisdom can truly aid caregivers in their important work.
