Ever thought about what turns a great packaging idea into something you can actually hold? Meet the unsung hero of our design world: the dieline. It's more than just different colored lines on a template; it’s where a client’s big vision gets translated into a precise, tangible product. This is where everything comes together—how it folds, what you see, and the overall experience of the product. Here’s the thing about dielines: they keep us real. Ever dove deep into a design only to realize the size or orientation was all wrong? That can throw a real wrench into the works. Getting the specifics nailed down from the get-go is crucial, especially when we’re charting new territories with innovative designs. That's in a perfect world and sometimes we start without a clear dieline, especially with innovative concepts. But even then, knowing the rough size and direction—vertical, horizontal, you name it—helps us get in the neighborhood. Dielines are where our creativity meets the nitty-gritty of production. It’s our job to stretch the limits of what’s possible within the practical confines of manufacturing. Between the printer and the co-man, certain forms are feasible while others are not, and our challenge is to create magic within these constraints. What’s the trickiest dieline you’ve ever tackled? For me, it was this multi-part shipper display—complex, challenging, but awesome to see come to life! #PackagingDesign #GraphicDesign #Dielines #DesignThinking #CreativeDesign #Innovation #BrandPackaging #DesignChallenges #PrintDesign #betterwithbuttermilk

"Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works," - Steve Jobs I'm reminded of the depth and function in our craft. Print and design are based on how it engages, how it resonates, and ultimately, how it works with a consumer base. At the end of the day, performance is as important as presentation. #DesignThinking #PerformanceAndPresentation #DesignInsights #SteveJobsWisdom #Miklisprinting

Why Print Design is Declining in 2024 In 2024, print design is becoming less popular. Here’s why: >Digital Focus: More people are using digital media, so the need for digital design is growing. >Cost and Speed: Digital designs are cheaper and faster to produce and change compared to print. >Environment: Digital designs are more eco-friendly, as they don’t use paper or ink. >Engagement: Digital designs can be interactive and more engaging than print. As designers, we need to adapt to these changes and embrace digital trends to stay relevant. Let's keep innovating in this exciting digital era! #DesignTrends #PrintDesign #DigitalAge #Sustainability #Innovation

#TrueOrFalse Digital signs are less effective at attracting customer attention than traditional static signs. False! Studies have shown that digital signage captures 400% more views than static signage. The dynamic nature of digital signs, with moving images and changing messages, draws attention much more effectively than static signs. This is why many businesses are incorporating digital displays into their signage strategies. I absolutely adore this kind of geekiness. Check out how attention to detail and love for technology forms the base of good design. It’s notable that he prototypes directly into code. I also used to do that often, it’s much more convenient, and most importantly, closer to the environment you work in. Just like if you’re a graphic designer, you can’t do design just on a computer without ever smelling the paper, touching the paint with your fingers, understanding the difference between screen printing and offset printing. Similarly, in web, you can’t truly feel the design without having written a single line of code. https://lnkd.in/gbndJRcV
