"Houston...we have a problem..." The cost of healthcare WILL be the thing that strangled the innovation that keeps this economy going. "Health insurance cost and availability may affect entrepreneurship and economic growth. Lack of health insurance could dissuade potential entrepreneurs from starting businesses that could contribute to innovation and economic growth. For employer businesses, health insurance benefits are part of the total compensation required to recruit and retain the talent needed to grow their businesses. Moreover, both payroll and health insurance premium payments have grown substantially in recent years. While most small businesses may not grow large enough to impact economic growth, the business starts, growth, and exits are important for how the economy reallocates its resources. An economy without this business dynamism risks stagnation." https://lnkd.in/gSvNVdDF

The Mike and John show is back for another episode. Please enjoy. Thanks Journal of Clinical Pathways
In this Breaking Down Health Care conversation, John Hennessy, MBA, and Michael Kolodziej, MD, examine how to measure quality in health care and the current challenges with the existing methods. "As we think about quality, from a patient perspective, we hope that the medical care that's being delivered is of high quality, but things like wait times and out-of-pocket costs contribute to that quality equation for patients... Those are both elements that we have to be working on in health care to deliver what patients might expect to be calling high quality," said Hennessy. The Mercy Health System report on improving health equity through use MCED testing in their communities. 1% cancer detection rate reported, but unfortunately, no information about false positives/negatives. The Mercy system has been very thoughtful about this initiative engaging navigators and physician leadership to ensure that follow up on test results is organized. https://lnkd.in/gyTiaHVg

Posting policies is not transparency; posting prices is. The billing is correct but takes advantage of the lack of consumer healthcare literacy. PR Guy’s name is spot on. #marketaccess

Creating access to equitable health for millions of patients. CMO & Creative Director driving revenue through B2B healthcare marketing.
1moAre we headed toward a world where having insurance actually DECREASES your access to care? I fear for what will happen to us all in the messy middle of something like that, but I also fear that might be the only thing that leads to the massive overhaul of the American healthcare system we so desperately need.
