Who says no start ups in Japan?? 2019 start up "Timee" gets JPY128 billion valuation, about 10X revenue multiple (de-minimus EBIT). A smash hit IPO. 5 year run resulting in a high value IPO is a great success story. The boyish CEO cashes out part of his 22% ownership share. A couple of smallish investments by venture funds, but no high profile private equity names. Congratulations to CEO Ogawa and CFO Yagi. Well done!

The JR Haneda Access Line will open in 2031. Connect Haneda direct to Shinjuku, Tokyo Station, and Narita Airport. I want to be on the first train. Patiently waiting.

Delighted to hear this year’s Asia CEO Awards have been declared “scam free” by the organizers. What a relief. “Asia CEO Awards is certified SCAM FREE. Awardees are chosen for their achievements and contributions, not because they pay fees to win. Buying fake awards and promoting yourself as “award winning” is deceptive and fraudulent to clients, staff and the nation. Real awards don't cost money -- they are awarded for merit. “

Thanks to Cheap Japan, the nation’s ranking of world’s richest countries in 2024 has fallen off a cliff. No longer in the top 20. Now only about half the USA, including adjustments for prices and hours worked. Source: The Economist

“Democracy at risk of collapse” Hardly. Don’t mind eccentric candidates, like Dr. Nakamats, who just lost for the 8th time at age 96. Respect the libido. But the grifters just advertising their YouTube channels using public funds and fake candidacy are bothersome. I hope to see Dr Nakamats again in 4 years for his 9th loss at age 100. He should get some kind of recognition for persistence. (しつこい)
