You thought the karma of leaving your furry little buddy in the middle of nowhere won’t follow you? #GoodAdsMatter This ad for Animalife, titled ‘Karma’, communicates its message coherently and boldly, with just the right amount of wit and vengeance. The story trails a middle-aged man at the airport and a service dog that seems to have caught a whiff of something unusual in the seemingly innocent and confused man. The dog that is later revealed to have been abandoned by his owner– the very man he is targeting– serves as the mascot of all pets left behind by irresponsible individuals. Interestingly, the narrative does not victimise the pet like your usual emotional dog ads. It instead makes him the master of his own fate, sharp-witted enough to avenge himself. Unlike other pet awareness ads that tackle sensitive topics like animal abandonment, Animalife’s approach was not a cry for help. It was a brave announcement to “be aware, because they will never forget you.” 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟰𝟬𝗸+ 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴/𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗮𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗮𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗱! We've done our fair share of pet shoots over the years Over 20 in total! So we now know a thing or too about working with furry friends, here's a few tips I generally have when people ask about shooting with pets: ⏰ Factor in a lot more time than you normally would in your shoot schedule - animals are unpredictable and might need multiple takes to pull off a shot 🪂 Have a plan B for difficult shots where you are asking something demanding from the pet eg. walking down a table full of full without stopping (yes we did this for Marleybones) 🐕🦺 Communicate with the trainer or owner ahead of time to ensure they can do what you want them to do, if they can't you might be able to find a workaround before the shoot day Little BTS clip below from our shoot with Grub Club Pets and °Small World (and yes if you're wondering, Gus did manage to grab the cardboard box out the bin in the end!) #video #videoproduction #film #filmproduction #creativeagency #socialmedia #socialcontent #contentmarketing

Where does advocacy meet marketing? That’s the question I’ve made it my mission to make known. And the answer to the question? Is everywhere. Want to learn more? Good news - this week, I enjoyed joining Tricia Montgomery and Jessica Abernathy on the Pets Are Family Podcast, where we delved into the heartwarming intersection of dog advocacy and brand marketing through story-driven photography. If you haven't heard of The Pets Are Family Podcast, it is a podcast for animal lovers and pet’s humans. All of their episodes are engaging and informative. If you are an animal lover, I highly recommend you add them to your MUST listen to podcasts. In This Episode: We delve into my transition from the corporate world to the world of canines. It's a tale of rediscovering passion and repurposing life for a greater cause. You’ll discover the inception of Dogs I Meet and how we're making waves in both the animal welfare and branding realms by telling compelling stories through photography. I spill the secrets behind capturing the essence of our furry friends, showcasing their zest for life, and teaching us all a lesson about living in the moment. Most importantly, we explore how I use my craft to build meaningful connections, leading to impactful cross-promotion strategies and real change for dogs everywhere - I share tips on how pet photographers just starting out can learn how to take their craft to the next level of impact. Are you ready to tune in? Join Tricia, Jessica, and me in a conversation that dives deep into the transformative power of following one's passion. This episode is a must-listen for anyone filled with inspiration, laughter, and maybe a few happy tears. I’m so grateful to Jessica and Tricia for inviting me on their podcast to share my passion and hopefully inspire others to get involved in helping animals in need. To Pets Are Family podcast: thank you! And I can’t wait for our next chat. :) #passion #storytelling #photography #changemakers#dogsimeet

Professional photographer, creative producer & consultant. Experienced, award-winning commercial, brand & editorial photographer for global brands, local SMEs and startups. Consultant and mentor.
‘Jack of All Trades’ or ‘Master of One’? I wrangle with this positioning all the time. Nearly 20 years of professional practice, testing, learning and evolving means I’m absolutely competent enough across a range of subject capture (enough to be hired by both local SMEs and global brands). But, just because I CAN does it mean I should? I’m fully aware of what my weaknesses (or my disinterests) are and how that dispassion indicates the commissions to avoid. I have slowly narrowed things down over the last five years and now focus on: •Brand advertising and business storytelling, both observed and directed (particularly in the active/outdoors/leisure/tourism and maker-grower-producer-manufacturer/craft-trade spaces.) • Portraiture*, especially editorial and lifestyle themed whether documentary or in a formalised, directed capacity on location or in the studio. *Professional head shots are also included. • Food, drink and product (from wine, beer and cheese to lollipops, sunglasses and articulated lorries). Travel and wildlife photography are also a lifelong passion and make up a lot of my personal portfolio. I also love animals, and was once British Pet Photographer of the Year, so set up a seperate website www.twofeetfourpaws.co.uk to showcase my pet and equine work. I realise that all this makes it difficult, to the point of rejection, for some potential clients who will struggle to nail down and categorise exactly what kind of photographer I am. I know I’ve lost commissions for celebrity portraits because I have a food and drink gallery on my website, for example. However, through lockdowns it was my ability to say yes to a diverse range of work that kept my business not just alive but healthy. So, I guess my question is: what’s better? Does anyone here, not just the creatives, find themselves in the same position and if so is it a hinderence? Or, did you make the decision to recalibrate and condense your offering? Did/does it work?
