International Women’s Day 💪🏿👩🏾🍳 Happy International Women’s Day to everyone in the Irish food and drink industry - and beyond 🌏 We have a number of phenomenal women working hard behind the scenes of the Irish Qs to make this event a success, year after year, headed up by our wonderful Event Director, Beth Treleaven. We are proud to have so many women involved in judging our entries each year - once again, a huge thank you to our wonderful judges 🌟 We have celebrated the successes of many women-owned food and drink businesses over the last 11 years and we can’t wait to discover more this year! 🏆 Are you a women-owned food/drink brand? We would love to hear from you. Similarly, if you’re a woman in the food and drink industry and you would like to get involved in judging this year - we would love to hear from you too! 🙌🏾 By celebrating food, we are celebrating the individuals and teams behind the entries, as well as discovering and celebrating products from different cultures and with different stories. “Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. A world that’s diverse, equitable and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women’s equality. March 8th marks another women's day in Portugal. And with this I feel a mix of emotions: on the one hand it is great to have a day in which we celebrate women, in which we dedicate time and reflect on the importance and role of women in society, in life and in the organizations of our daily lives; on the other hand, it is still worrying that we "only take one day a year" to think about this. And normally we have the tendency to justify and point the finger at society for this little concern because it "distracts us with this or that", because it encourages us to consume and because (as many say) we live in a country that only cares about football... but no. The responsibility is ours: mine, yours and ours. We are our society! Where we are our society: in our individual lives, in our group of friends, in our work. And the example has to come from us, not wait for it to come from “others”. And we talk about Women's Day but we could be talking about other "event days" like talking about Planet Day, Tree Day, Father's or Mother's Day, Children's Day...etc. Is it important to remember at least one day a year? Undoubtedly! Is it important to remember (or think, be grateful for having them in our lives, be aware) every day? Mandatory! Equality and Leadership is not from the outside in but from the inside out! #womensday #equality #leadership #mandatory #showsomelove

Really frustrating to continue to see people and organisations (including government organisations) who should know better, continue to not use the UN theme for International Women's Day but a corporate generated theme which comes up as the top Google result when you search for it. It's caught people out for so many years. Check out this article from 2020:

🌸 Celebrating International Women's Day 🌸 Today, we come together to honor the resilience, strength, and achievements of women around the world. International Women's Day is not just a day but a movement towards equality, empowerment, and justice for all women, regardless of their background, ethnicity, or circumstances. As we reflect on the progress made, let us also acknowledge the challenges that women continue to face globally. From gender-based violence to wage disparities, there is still much work to be done to ensure that every woman and girl can live a life free from discrimination and oppression. This year's theme, "Break the Bias," reminds us of the importance of challenging stereotypes, biases, and systemic barriers that hinder women's progress. It calls for action to create a more inclusive and equitable world where every woman's voice is heard and valued. As we celebrate International Women's Day, let us commit to amplifying women's voices, advocating for their rights, and creating a more just and equal society for all. Together, we can build a future where every woman can realize her full potential and thrive. Happy International Women's Day! 🎉👩🏽🤝👩🏼🌍 #happywomensday

I am taking a moment this International Women's Day to reflect on the profound impact that countless remarkable women have had on my career. These mentors, colleagues, and friends have not only offered their invaluable guidance and support but have also been a source of inspiration and strength to me. Today, however, is also a day that brings to light some uncomfortable truths. The statistics regarding violence against women in Australia are deeply troubling, and it's a stark reminder of the challenges we still face in ensuring safety and justice for all women. The prevalence of such violence in our society is a call to action for all of us to work harder towards creating a world where women can live without fear. Despite these challenges, I remain hopeful. This hope is not unfounded; it is based on the resilience and strength I see in women every day, and on the progress, we've made so far. As we celebrate International Women's Day, let us commit to supporting one another, to advocating for those who cannot do so themselves, and to pushing for systemic changes that will make our world safer and more equitable for everyone. Together, we can build a future that honours the contributions of women, acknowledges their worth, and safeguards their rights. Let's continue the fight for a world where equality is not just an ideal, but a reality. 💜

Every year on 8th March, the world celebrates International Women’s Day. The United Nations theme for International Women’s Day 2022 is “Break the Bias”. It recognises the need for a gender-equal world – a world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. And one of the most essential steps to attain equality is by ensuring women’s safety. Unless we create a safe environment that allows women to rise and flourish, we cannot empower women. Join our fight against women’s harassment. https://lnkd.in/g_cRKvzi
