On the final day of the EAA Oshkosh airshow last year, I had an interaction I'll never forget: While at a recruiting table, a young girl approached me and asked, "What do I do if I want to be a pilot, but the boys at my summer camp say I can't because I'm a girl?" I've been fortunate to inspire many young girls over the years, but at that moment, I witnessed the influence my advice and mentorship could have on someone's dreams. She came up seeking an ally to reassure her that her dream was not impossible. Being in a position to confidently reassure her is something I'm grateful for. I love to know that girl is out there chasing down her aviation dreams. ✈️😎 This interaction is one of the reasons I've continue mentoring and helping others through my work as a speaker, advisor, and author. An amazing #achievement for a venerable lady of the seas, now over 90 years old, as she circumnavigates Cape Horn for her first time. Reading the news and watching the video gave me chills for several reasons: 1) 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: Even the most ambitious goals can be attained with persistence. Don't give up! 2) 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤: The crew's expertise and collaboration were pivotal in navigating this challenging passage. It underscores the importance of every team member in achieving collective success. 3) 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬 𝐊𝐞𝐲: Selecting the right moment to set sail is crucial. Just like in business, having 'good wind' can often depend on our timing and preparation. This week, we celebrate the incredible journey of Sibongile Sambo, the founder and managing director of SRS Aviation - the first black female-owned aviation company in South Africa! Sibongile's story is a great inspiration to me... She was initially denied her dream of becoming a flight attendant because of her height 👧🏽, but she didn't let that stop her passion for aviation. Instead, she used that as a springboard to even greater heights! ✈️ My Inspirations from her story... 1️⃣ Don't Let Anything Stop You: Sibongile's story teaches us that our dreams are worth pursuing, regardless of our situation or background. There will always be obstacles, but they don't have to be roadblocks. 2️⃣ Blessings in Disguise: Sometimes, what seems like a limitation can be a blessing in disguise. Challenges can push us to explore new avenues and discover hidden talents. 3️⃣ Think Outside the Box: Obstacles can be catalysts for innovation. People, who are always trying to take every opportunity from me, people who are making sure that my life is a tragedy whatever I do, people who are making me suffer like it’s a hell on earth, who are you? Why can’t you do the same for successful people like Lex. Lex, I am sorry, I like you very much. I don’t mean anything bad for you. I am just trying to show the people who only wants to make me suffer that there are successful and lucky people who could afford to take a little setback. I am sorry. But I am just trying my best to make them understand…. I am torn into pieces by these hungry people who want to hurt me again and again, to take from me. Why can’t they see other successful and happy people? Or are they out of reach to them? There are so many successful and happy people out there. They could actually afford to take a setback or two. And if you have taken the success or job from someone else, don’t hesitate to give your job to others. We need to build the processes to protect innocent people like me. When someone is fired for another’s selfish reasons, all morals break lose here. It discourages people to even try. And there would be absolutely nothing to take from. Lex, could please cover this in your next podcast about why people are not taking from you or other successful people? Please!! That would be a greatest question to ponder over.

Today, I received this e-mail from LinkedIn, WoW 12 years of using this platform. My first thought was what kind of facts happened in the world at that time. Here are some examples: 1- The Summer Olympics were held in London, United Kingdom. 2- Barack Obama was re-elected as President of the United States for his second term. 3- The "Gangnam Style" music video by South Korean artist Psy became a global phenomenon, becoming the first YouTube video to reach one billion views. 4- The Mars rover Curiosity successfully landed on Mars, beginning its mission to explore the Martian surface. 5- Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her Diamond Jubilee, marking 60 years on the British throne. 6- The social media platform Instagram was acquired by Facebook for $1 billion. "Sic-Parvis-Magna" Ever since I came across this phrase, it became the north of my compass in life. It shows me my direction & destiny. It's a Latin quote; Sic Parvis Magna which translates to: "Greatness from Small Beginnings". It has been really a vital part of both my personal and professional growth. The motto originates back to 1587 by legendary explorer Sir Francis Drake's words: "There must be a beginning to any great matter, but the continuing unto the end until it be thoroughly finished yields the true glory". It is no coincidence that the well-known navigator, even made a knight by Queen Elizabeth I, was born in a family of humble origins, yet with his audacity and willpower he has conquered a prominent position very difficult to reach in the epoch. The biggest thing that I have learnt from this is that despite how good the end goal and rewards are, it is the journey which makes it far more interesting and exciting. If something is easily achievable, then being able to complete or attain it would not be of the essence as much compared to something with a resilient journey. If you really want something, and you commit yourself to get it by giving all of your faith, the world can only indulge you and accompany you towards success, like a gentle wind that blows a ship to a rich and safe harbor. The watchword is always the same: DISCIPLINE.
