Really starting to feel like we are in a Golden Era of Environmental Journalism. I'd be curious to see a retrospective analysis of climate and clean energy coverage by large media outlets over the last 20 years, and how smaller Substack style pieces (and podcasts) have impacted the ecosystem. So much good writing out there right now that it is hard to keep up! Here's one I just added to my email subs -

As much as arguing over semantics frustrates me to no end, it doesn’t change the fact that language matters. Drilled Media’s Amy Westervelt shares her insights on the importance of understanding the nuances of specific climate terminology and narratives, such as “natural gas” and “lower carbon.” While the adjectives “natural” and “lower” make fossil fuels sound less damaging, they’re still fossil fuels. Language is tricky like that. A term can be technically correct, as well as misleading. And as we’ve seen, this is done intentionally most of the time. I’ll be sharing more of our conversation here soon 🙌🏽 Watch this space! . . . #climate #climatechange #media #storytelling #narrative #language #journalist #interview #podcast #energy #environment #earth #pollution #words

Worth reading the series, trees are key to mitigating and adapting to the climate emergency
The latest Climate Collaboration reporting project from our team is with a very small newsroom in the Pacific Northwest. I love the fact that we can elevate their work by collaborating and co-publishing this series with them. https://lnkd.in/gwuQjDhj

Stop Oil activists are at it again. This time they targeted the ancient ruins Stonehenge. They really are scum, lock them up and let them rot. I've published an article on Substack discussing the events and tying it in with the agenda to control human life. As always I've presented a unique twist with the prose I deliver. Check the article out, and hit subscribe and like if you find it interesting. #freedom #stonehenge #climatechangehoax #freespeech #life #writing Just Stop Oil activists, Just Stopped Thinking; dupes of climate agenda (substack.com)

As part of my Social Media and the News class, I have to write an online newsletter where I curate content for my audience on a subject of my choosing. Naturally, I am focusing on environmental issues. Emily Atkin has a great newsletter, HEATED, that I used as part of the inspiration for my newsletter. I recommend reading through her content as she focuses on very important topics and fosters open discussions and debate. #DePaulSMN #crisismanagement

Happy World Press Freedom Day 2024! As a climate leader, I extend my deepest gratitude to journalists worldwide. Your work in bringing environmental issues to the forefront is invaluable. Last July, we trained 35 young journalists in climate science and storytelling, empowering them to narrate our planet's most pressing stories. This year's theme for World Press Freedom Day is "A Press for the Planet: Journalism in the Face of the Environmental Crisis." It highlights the importance of journalism and freedom of expression in the context of the current global environmental challenges Today, I urge you all to continue this momentum. Let's increase our coverage on climate change, share more stories of impact, and inspire action. Your voice is crucial in shaping a sustainable future for all. #WorldPressFreedomDay #ClimateChange #SustainableFuture
