Dr. Jessica Lautz’s Post

As we celebrate Earth Day, did you know NAR Research produces two reports dedicated to sustainability in real estate? One pertaining to the residential market and another dedicated to commercial real estate. 63% of residential practitioners said energy efficiency promotion in listings was very or somewhat valuable and 50% were directly involved with a property with green features, either on the buyer or seller side in the last 12 months. Residential report here: https://lnkd.in/edrcdYZf Thirty-nine percent of REALTORS® said buildings with green certifications, such as LEED, Green Globes, or the Living Building Challenge, had increased commercial property values. Commercial report here: https://lnkd.in/e-gsxaig Sidnee Holmes manages these reports for NAR.

50% had green features? It shows how much you know what green is. Navigating the green in residential real estate is difficult for realtors. Determining the Green potential of a property is even difficult for building science, real estate and green professionals, unless you have a GAPScore verify account to perform a survey just like an MLS questionnaire. Not every house is green. Yet, every house is on the the green spectrum for sustainability. I'm available for zoom calls. Hope your Earth day was super.

Every house has a green potential for affordable cost. It is a matter of realizing how much energy you really need for a day and how simple it is to install. In other words there are companies trying to send you into debt for grid connected solar where 3 -5KW add on is tax deductible and ranges about 5-10 grand.  Green from the Ground up is not practical as for your average first time home buyer .
