Do you know your #superpower? One of the best pieces of advice Iโ€™ve ever received was to know your superpower. It provides a guiding principle, serves as a source of strength, and helps you project leadership. My personal superpower is circling the square: creating a new idea by bringing disparate concepts together and seeing patterns between unrelated data points. My brain operates in acute angles โ€“ itโ€™s like a particle accelerator banging bits of data together until something new is created. (Itโ€™s also why my presentation of a new idea can initially be very confusing.) As a CEO at the crossroads of music and tech, strategic brainstorming is crucial to confronting the disruptive nature of #technology. To bring this practice into Merlin, we initiated a common parlance of thinking differently called #Strategic Pods. This is how Merliners from different parts of the company are encouraged to meet and brainstorm on new ways to operate, strategize on how to tackle problems, and think both big and small (i.e., the 1% improvement rule). From these meet-ups, the crucial step is translating new ideas into practical programs or tools that benefit the company. Ideas that have come out of the pods program include ๐‘€๐‘’๐‘Ÿ๐‘™๐‘–๐‘› ๐ถ๐‘œ๐‘›๐‘›๐‘’๐‘๐‘ก (our turnkey solution for licensing startups), innovative ways of engaging our digital partners, more effective ways to operate in a distributed work environment, and how to roll out our Insights initiative. Over my career, circling the square has served me well. If this is something you want to build for yourself, you can take simple steps like engaging varied types of information (e.g., newsletters outside of your normal interests), seeking out new experiences (art, travel, music), and setting up your own strategic pods (maybe even start with something unrelated to your job). You activate this superpower by creating a larger funnel for your brain to view the world in different ways. #personaldevelopment #lifelesson #growthmindset #superpowerseries

Thanks for sharing! Now my superpower of putting 20 lbs of stuff in my purse seems lame (true fact). Seriously, need to look relook at my strengths and funnel them.

I'm glad you brought up this topic. Many people are unaware of their #superpower and don't realize they can continuously strengthen it.
