Mackenzie Miller has been putting together a network diagram for our client. These diagrams are a great visual tool to plan out your new control system. Using draft copies you can have team discussions regarding: - capabilities of the new controller - how it will integrate with existing controllers and what upgrades may be required - HMI operator panel options (office computer, panel screens, tablet or phone access) - metering schemes including Revenue Canada spec. - remote location RTU panel integration Sent from my iPhone - integration of existing remote location RTUs and any upgrades that may be required for that to happen - Local or cloud based data logging and access for historical trending - SCADA platform definition including hardware and software - communication access including path studies, internet access, auto failover, tunnels and static IPs - API solutions for autonomous remote actions based on market triggers - Command Center development Proper planning will allow the client to integrate any or all of the above solutions and/or ensure it can be added as they grow At #JPAKeng we have developed and implemented various forms of every stage of your network infrastructure.

Our 3rd blog posting for Modbus May - Typical Modbus Monitoring Applications Introduction: There is a lot of data in factories and process plants that engineers need to monitor, but it is not used for control purposes. This data needs to be updated in seconds, minutes, or hours. Communication protocols such as PROFINET and EtherNet/IP were both designed to update all data in milliseconds, and they have to be updated in milliseconds. This means you must have a fairly sophisticated device to handle the communications. However, Modbus can have devices update once a second, once an hour, or even once a day. This, combined with the fact that the protocol is easy to implement, means that the device itself can be a lot simpler and, therefore, have a lower cost. https://lnkd.in/gUvCKsQq #Modbus #monitoring #automation
