It was such a pleasure to speak about the future of biofuels at Deutsche Bank’s 2nd Annual Climate & Security Day today. I really enjoyed the discussion with fellow panelists Unzall Haq and Agata Raszkiewicz innovation in sustainability and the need for collaboration to deliver a Net Zero future. Embracing proven technologies is essential for accelerating the transition to a more sustainable future. London Climate Action Week #renewablefuels #netzero

Thanks, Renewable Watch Magazine for inviting me to speak in the first session on 'Decarbonisation Trends and Opportunities' at their conference on Net Zero Pathways for Corporates opened with the first session on 'Decarbonisation Trends and Opportunities'. My thoughts: • There are massive opportunities for corporations in their net-zero journey. However, there are obstacles and challenges. • The three major obstacles we must overcome are mental obstacles, greenwashing, and hidden obstacles, to transform our economy into a green and net-zero economy. • Also, climate governance must be integrated with existing business governance, and our decarbonization measures must extend to the complete eco-system

Europe's forests help in the fight against climate change by absorbing some 20% of the continent's CO2 emissions. Burgo Group, a leading European paper manufacturer, plays a major role in a thriving European forest industry that adds nearly 160 million cubic meters of wood biomass every year. See more from Ignazio Capuano and Valerio Forti to find out how BCG helped develop a comprehensive ESG strategy, including a roadmap to sustainable development in key areas. https://lnkd.in/dShSAXUe

This is real progress and we must also be realistic that we will be dependent on fossil fuels for many years to come. This is where carbon capture and new technologies can play a crucial role.

We know what to do... 1. Cut Methane 2. Stop deforestation 3. Restore degraded land (stop spread of ag) 4. Change agriculture and the way we eat 5. Solar and wind renewables 6. Energy efficiencies 7. Stop burning coal 8. Put climate at the heart of all decision making!

"The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change published the “synthesis report” of its sixth assessment report (AR6) on Monday. Eight years in preparation, this mammoth report encompasses the entire range of human knowledge of the climate system, compiled by hundreds of scientists from thousands of academic papers, and published in four parts, in August 2021, February and April 2022, and March 2023. The report drew together the most important findings – but also highlighted some key measures that governments and countries must take immediately if we are to avoid climate catastrophe: 1. Reduce methane 2. Stop deforestation 3. Restore other degraded land, and stop it being turned to agriculture 4. Change agriculture, and change the way we eat 5. Solar and wind power 6. Energy efficiency 7. Stop burning coal 8. Put climate at the heart of all decision-making"

𝐓𝐰𝐨 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫’𝐬 𝐂𝐎𝐏28 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐭 For the first time in the 30 years since #climate talks began, the term “fossil fuels” has appeared in a formal COP outcome as negotiators from 198 Parties reached an unprecedented consensus to transition away from #fossilfuels. This marks what many world leaders call the beginning of the end of the fossil fuel era. An equally important outcome was the mobilization of a catalytic $1.2 billion grant to support the reduction of #methaneemissions. Methane accounts for 14% of global emissions with a warming potential that is 25 times greater than CO2. And methane emissions happen all around you – from production and transport of coal, oil and natural gas; to the decay of organic waste in landfills and even from livestock and agricultural practices. Both #COP28 outcomes feed into each other – and encourage our work at GPS Renewables. To make the transition from fossil fuels, the world needs clean fuel alternatives such as compressed #biogas or #CBG. One of the ways we produce CBG is by using organic waste diverted from landfills. This helps reduce methane emissions from landfills, while reducing methane’s climate impact by converting it into CO2, which is less potent as a greenhouse gas. The health of the planet has been front and center recently with climate accords from #COP28 at the tail end of 2023, and #WEF24 reiterating similar concerns on the need for a global solution and phasing out of fossil fuels. What is needed is renewable options, from regenerative producers focusing on sustainable practice. Biofuels like #SAF are viable substitutes for aviation fuels, limited mainly by availability as the aviation industry looks to decarbonise in the global countdown to net zero. AngkorSustain's patented process for #biofuel production is vertically integrated by design to create a self-sustaining network of inputs and outputs. The growing of biomass and then processing into energy via pyrolysis is an amazing opportunity, supported by AngkorSustain's commitment to sustainability and impact-led practice. https://lnkd.in/g4yHStwx

Carbon Credits and ITMOs: two terms, one goal: mitigating climate change. But what's the key difference? An article by Mario De Oliveira Arias Oliveira and Danna Valentina Parra Bautista Carbon Credits represent GHG reductions, bought by entities to offset emissions. ITMOs, born from the Paris Agreement, enable nations to trade emission reductions internationally, helping countries meet their commitments while fostering global climate goals. While Carbon Credits cater to individual entities, ITMOs foster international collaboration, aligning nations with their emission reduction targets.
