Happy Earth Day! For anyone interested in ideas to reduce their environmental impact, I’ve listed some of the things I have incorporated over the years below. I know there is a lot more I should do, but these have been easy changes that I think help. Choose what works for you. 1. Veggie diet, which has also had a great impact on my overall health. 2. Buy mostly organic foods, and order sustainable sourced coffee from Café Campesino, located in Americus, GA. 3. Use Blueland soap and cleaning products. Their kits give you the reusable bottles or cans, and you purchase replacement pods that come in composable packaging. All their products have worked great and you can get them on Amazon now.  4. Speaking of Amazon, I select a single day a week delivery to try to reduce the packaging.  5. Use compostable trash bags and ziplock bags.  6. Use a push reel mower and electric edger for my lawn care.  7. Nearly always have my reusable coffee mug or water bottle. I love my Larq that allows me to feel comfortable with refilling anywhere.  8. Quality or quantity: business's eternal dilemma? In the world of the tea business, a clash of philosophies unfolded between two iconic figures: James Taylor and Sir Thomas Lipton. Taylor, a Scottish planter, introduced tea cultivation in Ceylon with a focus on quality. On the other side was Lipton, a British entrepreneur, who championed mass production and low prices. Taylor stood for excellence, prioritizing quality over quantity. He produced premium tea that commanded higher prices. Lipton, however, believed in affordability and mass appeal. His strategy involved undercutting prices to capture a larger market share. Their rivalry intensified in the 20th century, marked by accusations of unfair practices. Taylor accused Lipton of dumping tea below cost, a charge Lipton denied. The dispute dragged on, painting a picture of differing approaches. In a notable turn, Taylor's Ceylon tea won commendation from the experts at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, a recognition of its exceptional quality. Ultimately, Lipton's mass production strategy prevailed. He outlasted Taylor's approach and dominated the Ceylon tea industry. Yet, Taylor's legacy remains. His commitment to quality endures as a guiding principle for tea growers today. In the ever-evolving business landscape, the duel of Taylor and Lipton offers insights. Should businesses pursue a path of uncompromising quality like Taylor, or opt for mass appeal and competitive pricing like Lipton?
