It’s a little early to truly start talking about hurricane season super seriously but it’s never too early for reminders on best practices to ensure you don’t do charity work and get paid. I feel Hurricane Ian was a wake-up call for many for how claims are handled for the insureds we work for. Our client is ultimately the payee but we have to be mindful that they will find their recovery with insurance funds (hopefully). Carriers are quickly using data to restructure models of underwriting and policies. Don’t think this does or will only apply to Florida. With a proven model, other states will quickly take suit. I will be discussing this much more in the coming months as we launch CATx, but it’s important to keep the health of your company (and those in it) when considering storm work. I urge you to remember that your company thrives on profit, not revenue. Being risk averse can be a powerful tool but it can also be a dangerous threat. Contract well Onboard right. SERIOUS POST - Hurricane Season - NOT a complete list but should get you thinking. If you have animals, you need a plan. Storm shelters are not animal friendly. Hotels will not normally allow pets. The partial list below is obviously DOG related but can be adjusted. 👉Anyone with questions or extra tips, pls post in comments. 🙏 1. Have a evacuation plan before you need it 1. Know where your going. 2. Know who to call. 3. Know what you will need 2. Build your kit 1. Docs including vax and chip #’s 2. CRATE FOR EVERY DOG 3. leads, collars, bowls (Tie outs are big + for prolonged displacement) 4. Water, kibble, meds, first aid, etc for every dog 3. Be informed 1. Weather systems 2. Flooded areas 3. As hurricane season gets closer, do you know how to prepare for your pet? This is my cat, Kimchi! Like most cats, he can't read, so he hasn't read up on what to do during a hurricane... luckily, I have 😎 1) If you are evacuating, DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PET BEHIND. If the storm is bad enough for YOU to leave, your pet has to leave, too. 2) If you plan on sheltering with family members, check to make sure they can accommodate your pet. If you are going to a hotel, call hotels well in advance to make sure they accept pets. Keep a list of pet-friendly hotels on hand before hurricane season even starts. If you intend on going to a congregate shelter, be aware that some allow pets and some do not. 3) Prepare a kit with food, water, medical and sanitary supplies, a toy or two, and a photo of your pet (just in case they become lost). 4) Microchip your pet, if possible!
